Armor in Once Human is a little different. Most armor parts form sets, and each set gives different bonuses that suit different gameplay styles. This means that there is no actual “best” armor in the game. But there are armor sets that are best for different game stages, or for different uses. These range from new player armor that will help players through the early game, to end-game legendary sets that will require weeks or months to acquire in this survival shooter.

6 Raid Armor

Good Early Game Armor

Raid Armor In Once Human
  • Parts: 6 (4 required for maximum bonus)
  • How to get: Memetic unlock
  • Set bonuses:
    • 1: Gathering Speed +15%.
    • 2: Max Load +20.
    • 3: When your current load exceeds 80, damage received -10%, and weapon and tactical item damage +15%.
    • 4: Glide and roll stamina consumption -30%.

All players have access to the Raid Armor set from the very start, all they need to do is unlock it via a Memetic. This is a significant upgrade over the new player armor that everyone has access to for free.

Once Human: Best Places To Farm Acid

Players on the hunt for Acid in Once Human should focus their attention on the following farming locations.

The crafting requirements are quite low, and the crafting system in Once Human is quite simple. However, it is not worth calibrating this armor at all, as the player will likely replace it within the first day of gameplay in Once Human. It works well for the new player zones, but cannot cut the mustard later in the game.

5 Agent Armor

Early Game Combat Armor

Agent Armor In Once Human
  • Parts: 6 (4 required for maximum bonus)
  • How to get: Loot from crates in Iron River
  • Set Bonuses:
    • 1: Head damage reduction +10%.
    • 2: Weak spot damage +10%.
    • 3: Each precise kill grants a stack of bullet saver, weak spot damage +15%, lasting 8 seconds, stacking up to 3 times.
    • 4. After killing an enemy, reload speed +15%. For weak spot kills, fire rate +10%. The effect is removed after reloading or switching weapons.

When a new player in Once Human moves out onto the main open-world map after completing the new player experience, they will start getting blueprint loot from crates. It is highly likely that the player will loot enough blueprints for Agent Armor that they can make 4 pieces to enable all of the set bonuses.

This is great armor for the first few boss fights, as its baked-in bonuses are all aimed (excuse the pun) at hitting the weak spots on an enemy to increase overall DPS. Most players will use Agent Armor at some stage of the game.

4 Heavy Duty Armor

Mid-Game Combat Armor

Heavy Duty Armor In Once Human
  • Parts: 6 (4 required for maximum bonus)
  • How to get: Loot from crates in Chalk Peak
  • Set Bonuses:
    • 1: Max HP +10%.
    • 2: Elemental damage +8% (blaze, frost, shock, and blast), reload speed +15%.
    • 3: After killing an enemy, movement speed +20%, lasting 2 seconds; status damage +40%, diminishing over 8 seconds.
    • 4. For each enemy within 5 meters, damage reduction +4%, stacking up to 4 times.

At around level 40, players will need to upgrade their armor to take on the harder POIs in Chalk Peak and beyond. Luckily, the developers have seeded the blueprints for the Heavy Duty Armor set in this area.

Once Human: Best Memetics To Unlock First

Once Human players should prioritize getting the following memetics first to help their character's progression.

The Heavy Duty Armor, once it has been calibrated to around level 4, will see the player all the way to the end game. It is especially good for people that are running an elemental build, and will last them until they have managed to put together enough legendary blueprints for a full set.

3 Falcon Armor

Agility Armor

Falcon Armor In Once Human
  • Parts: 6 (4 required for maximum bonus)
  • How to get: Loot from crates in Red Sands
  • Set Bonuses:
    • 1: Roll stamina consumption -30%.
    • 2: Crit damage +12%.
    • 3: When stamina is above 90%, crit rate +5%, crit damage +20%.
    • 4: After killing an enemy, stamina +30, movement speed +20% for 2 seconds (cooldown: 3 seconds).

Players that prefer to stay mobile in combat might like to take a look at the Falcon Armor set. This is an armor set in Once Human that is aimed squarely at players that keep mobile, and use the dodge roll skill a lot.

Falcon Armor is also commonly used in PvP combat. This armor set is also very flexible, as it is not aimed at any particular weapon build, and works well with all weapon types. Overall, a good upgrade over the early-game armor, suitable for people that move around a lot in combat.

2 Bastille Armor

Defensive Armor

Bastille Armor In Once Human
  • Parts: 6 (4 required for maximum bonus)
  • How to get: Won from Wish Machine
  • Set Bonuses:
    • 1: When health is above 70%, Weapon DMG +10%.
    • 2: Reload speed +20%.
    • 3. When crouching and staying still for 0.5 seconds, the player will enter the bastille status, weapon damage +40%. When the status ends, the player will be unable to sprint for 3 seconds, and their stamina consumption is increased by 100%.
    • 4: 3 seconds after the bastille status ends, the player will gain 1 stack of armor, up to 60 times. When in bastille status, each stack of armor grants the player a shield that equals 1% of their maximum health. When the shield's value is depleted to 0 while in the bastille status, the player’s vulnerability +30%.

This is a legendary armor set, and therefore, is not simple to acquire. It will likely take several seasons for a player to unlock enough blueprints to craft a full set of Bastille Armor. That being said, long-term goals are a good thing in any game.

Once Human Beginner Mistakes To Avoid
Once Human: Beginner Mistakes To Avoid

Once Human is a complex game with a steep learning curve, so make sure you don't make these simple mistakes.

Bastille Armor is well-suited to players that tend to stay fairly immobile in combat, crouching behind cover and popping up to fire off a volley whilst enemies are reloading or out of position. When the player does expose themselves from crouch, they have increased defenses.

1 Renegade Armor

Sniper Armor

Renegade Armor In Once Human
  • Parts: 6 (4 required for maximum bonus)
  • How to get: Won from Wish Machine
  • Set Bonuses:
    • 1: Reload speed +15%.
    • 2: Weak spot damage +10%.
    • 3. Hitting the same enemy consecutively grants one stack of archer's focus, Weak spot damage +4%, stacking up to 10 times. Switching targets decreases the stacks of archer's focus by half.
    • 4. When reloading, for every 1% of weak spot hit percentage from the last clip, loads an additional 0.6% of ammunition, up to a maximum of 30%.

Almost every PvE combat game has a sniper class or build, and Once Human is no exception. Renegade Armor is the armor set that is best suited for people that prefer to engage in long-range combat using a bow, crossbow, or sniper rifle.

The bonuses suit players that place their shots precisely, triggering the DPS increase through better reload speed and increased damage per shot. However, as a legendary armor set, it will take quite some time and more than a little luck to put a whole set together.
