Once Human is an MMO survival game that ties a lot of its mechanics to the story. After being dropped into the world, players can choose to do whatever they want, from looting and crafting to progressing down skill trees or completing the main story.

Players will have complete freedom to go far from the starting area without progressing the main story, and won't be held back in any of the skill trees. While this can help players quickly get better gear and make short work of the story bosses when they come back, there are additional benefits to completing the story.

Once Human: How To Craft Ammo

There are multiple types of ammo players can use across an array of guns; here's how to craft ammo in Once Human.

How To Access Rift Anchors In Once Human

Rift Anchors are tied to the main story and will require players to progress the story in order to interact with the rift anchor and complete all tasks at a location. Rift Anchors are tied to the nearby Monolith of the region, and will all need to be accessed to unlock the monolith and fight the boss within. This does hold back players' ability to complete all tasks in a region unless they are also completing the story.

The story does offer many rewards and will be the only way to get inside Monolith to fight the bosses, making it well worth a player's time. The story will take players from region to region, eventually beginning the quest to access all the Rift Anchors within that region. While all the other tasks in a location can be completed anytime, the Rift Anchor task will only be completed during that region's main mission. Unlocking the mission to access Rift Anchors will mark them on the map with a quest marker, but they can also be found by following the purple beam they emit straight up into the air.

How To Track Quests In Once Human

To track specific quests, open up the main menu and go to the Explorer's Guide. The second option in this list will be tasks, hotkeyed to, "L". There are three types of quests, Follow The Stardust, World Tasks, and Commissions. Follow The Stardust acts as the main quest line, and tracking and completing those quests will quickly give players access to all the Rift Anchors in each region.

The recommended level for a quest will appear in a different color based on the player's level and how difficult that quest will currently be to complete. Quests can be completed at any level the player wants, but following tasks that have a much higher recommended level can be very difficult unless players choose to play with friends. Completing the main story will also give players the ability to change worlds and play with their friends whenever they want.
