If you are getting light headaches or feeling a bit of motion sickness while playing Once Human on PC, it might be because of the low FoV setting enforced by default. The camera is zoomed too much into your character, and the screen space on the sides is quite limiting. The low FoV will especially affect your gameplay once you build your first vehicle.

Playing with a wider FoV (or field of view) increases the amount of space you can see on your screen. It also gives you a closer perspective to real life, at least with the right FoV values and when playing at high 4K resolutions. Unfortunately, Once Human does not make it easy to change the field of view. Similar to Bethesda ignoring FoV sliders in its games, Once Human forces you to go on a discovery quest to change your FoV.

How To Change Your Name And Appearance in Once Human

Wondering how to re-access the character creator screen in Once Human to change your name and appearance? Here's what you need to do.

Can You Increase Field of View (FoV) in Once Human?

Once Human - Camera Distance Setting

Once Human does not allow you to change your field of view, at least not in the traditional way. The in-game settings do not have a FoV slider to increase your peripheral vision, and the config file does not contain any options you cannot already access in Once Human.

Once Human saves a graphics config file on your system, which can be found in the following location: steam\steamapps\common\once human\documents\graphicconfig.

Because of the limited options, if you are looking to tweak the graphics settings to get the best performance, you should do it in the game instead of editing the config file.

Once Human - Camera Distance Results

What you can do is increase the distance between the camera and the character in Once Human. Head into the pause menu by pressing Escape and then select Settings. Scroll down the Mouse/Display tab and set Camera Distance to 100. You will now be able to see your full character, and driving vehicles will feel much more comfortable. You will also increase your vision space, but the difference is nothing significant.

Once Human forces a default FoV setting of 55 degrees. Increasing the camera distance, as shown in the images below, mostly increases the vision space at the bottom of the screen. The sides and top gain only a few additional degrees.

Beyond the minor improvement gained by changing the camera distance, there is nothing else you can do at the time of writing to increase your FoV setting in Once Human. Getting a 90 FoV remains a dream unless you are willing to try a cheat engine. That, however, comes at the serious risk of being permanently banned.

Keep your fingers crossed that developer Starry Studio adds an official FoV slider with the next major update. There is a long list of improvements players are hoping to arrive soon, including optimizations for better PC performance.
