Once Human features tons of story quests that take you to different locations in the game, introducing you to new areas and challenges. Each quest will advance the plot and help you uncover the mysteries of this strange new world.

One of the first quests that you’ll come across in the game is the “Murmurs in the Forest” quest. It is a main story quest that sets the stage for your encounter with a powerful boss enemy known as the Treant. Here’s a detailed guide on how to tackle the Murmurs in the Forest in Once Human.

Initiating the Murmurs in the Forest Quest

To initiate the Murmurs in the Forest quest, you must reach level 8 and enter the Dayton Wetlands region. Once there, look for a character named Mary, identifiable by her white hair and lab coat. Talk to her to begin the quest.

While accessible at level 8, it's recommended to wait and be at least level 14 before attempting the Murmurs in the Forest quest. This is because you'll be stronger and better equipped to handle the challenges it throws your way.

Find The Remnants of The Twisted Tree

Once you speak to Mary, she’ll direct you to an abandoned hideout slightly north of the Dayton Wetlands. Before entering the hideout, make sure you have enough ammo and healing items to sustain yourself as there will be a handful of enemies to take down there.

Navigate through the abandoned facility and follow the objective markers until you find a deviation called the Remnants of The Twisted Tree. Interacting with the Remnants will transport you to a twisted dimension known as the Rift Space.

Clear The Rift Space

Clear The Rift Space

Inside the Rift Space, you’ll encounter several tendril-like enemies. Focus your attacks on the pulsating red spots in the middle of their bodies to take down these enemies easily. As you move through the Rift Space, you'll trigger a boss fight against the Treant’s Doppelganger. Defeat this copy to proceed.

Don’t shoot at the tendril-like enemies from a distance, as doing so reduces your damage, even if you hit the red spot. Make sure to get closer before attacking these vine creatures.

Activate The Rift Anchors

After defeating the Treant's Copy, you'll need to activate the Rift Anchors to get to the Gaia Monolith. To find the Rift Anchors, simply open the map and find tentacle-like icons. These represent the locations of the Rift Anchors scattered around the area. Once you have the locations from the map, head to each marked spot and activate them.

A Rift Anchor is a yellow box on the ground with a purple beam of light shooting upwards from it. Interact with the yellow box to activate the corresponding Rift Anchor. You will need to activate four Rift Anchors to proceed.

Clear 3 Tangled Vines

But before you face the boss, you need to clear three Tangled Vines in the Gaia Monolith. Be cautious while targeting these Vines, as they can deal significant damage if you're not careful. Dodge their attacks and aim for the red spots to take them down quickly.

Defeat Treant

After accessing the Monolith, you’ll complete the Murmurs in the Forest quest and unlock a challenging boss fight against The Great One: Treant. Like the vine creatures, the Treant’s weak spot is also a glowing red spot on its body. Focus your attacks on this spot to deal maximum damage and defeat the Treant.

Avoid the Treant’s laser attacks because they can cause significant damage to your character.
