One of the developers working on Once Upon A Puppet recently shed light on the game’s many collectibles and how they tie into the lore of the game’s theater-inspired world. Developed by development studio Flatter Than Earth and published by Daedalic Entertainment, Once Upon A Puppet takes players to a mystical world where floating hands guide puppets through magic strings and the fate of their realm rests on an unlikely duo named Nieve and Drev.

The pair must work together to unlock the mystery threatening the world of Once Upon A Puppet, solving puzzles and sneaking past corrupted puppet enemies they encounter on their journey. This journey will also contain collectibles to discover, as demonstrated in the Steam demo that is currently available to download. In this brief demo, players can find shards of a stained-glass painting, and gathering them unlocks a text passage about the world’s king.

Once Upon A Puppet’s world is one that combines the dark atmosphere of games like Lies of P with the crafted stage production of a theater show. This world is threatened by an all-consuming darkness that could prevent any further stories from being told, prompting Nieve and Drev to embark on their dangerous quest to uncover the source of this ominous force.

Once Upon A Puppet will launch across all major platforms on April 23 and can already be wishlisted on Steam. From what has been shown so far, the game has an interesting visual style and unique puppet-like gameplay, and now players know that there will be plenty of hidden collectibles to keep them diving back into the twisting, theater-inspired world of Once Upon A Puppet once it takes to the stage later this month.
