Arrowhead Game Studios recently announced an update for Helldivers 2, where a new currency will be added for players who own the Super Citizen Edition, whether they purchased this version of the game initially or upgraded after getting the base game. At the time of the announcement, this seemed like quite an odd move for Helldivers 2, mainly because there arguably wasn’t much going on in the game to inspire a surge of incoming players for this premium version of the game to appeal to.
The current Major Order campaign for Helldivers 2 is still worth participating in, as they always are, but it hardly compares to the recent Illuminate invasion of Super Earth, which was arguably the most dire moment of the Galactic War so far. Hence, if there was ever a time to recruit new players to the Galactic War, the defense of Super Earth itself seemed like a far more appropriate time than the current, relatively relaxed Major Orders players are tasked with. However, now that it has been announced that Helldivers 2 is coming to Xbox consoles on August 26, the recent changes to Helldivers 2’s Super Citizen Edition make a lot more sense now.
Helldivers 2’s Super Earth Invasion Still Leaves One Super-Sized Question Unanswered
As Helldivers 2’s ongoing Galactic War continues to spread to new, undiscovered planets, one absent feature is a real head-scratcher.
Helldivers 2’s New Super Citizen Edition Will Kick Off The Xbox Launch With a Bang
What Comes with Helldivers 2’s New Super Citizen Edition Bundle?
- The base game for Helldivers 2 (players who already own the base game can upgrade to the Super Citizen Edition for a discounted price)
- Stratagem Hero mini-game
- DP-53 Savior of the Free armor set
- Will of the People cape
- MP-98 Knight weapon
- ‘Super Citizen’ player title
- One Warbond Token
Helldivers 2’s Super Citizen Edition Changes Explained
Originally, the Super Citizen Edition for Helldivers 2 included immediate access to the Steeled Veterans premium Warbond. When Helldivers 2 releases on Xbox platforms on August 26, this Warbond will no longer be included in the Super Citizen Edition Bundle of Helldivers 2, effective on all platforms. Instead, players will receive one Warbond Token, which can be used to unlock any premium Warbond. Beyond this, the other contents of this bundle will remain the same.
This new Warbond Token prevents players from accidentally purchasing the Steeled Veterans premium Warbond twice. This could happen if players who own the base game of Helldivers 2 purchase this Warbond with Super Credits, then later upgrade to the Super Citizen Edition of Helldivers 2. Of course, players will still have the option to spend their Warbond Token to unlock the Steeled Veterans Warbond, but there are plenty of other options available that players will have the freedom to choose from, now that Helldivers 2 is over a year old by the time its release date on Xbox platforms will arrive.
Helldivers 2’s New Warbond Token Is a Game Changer for New Recruits
Ultimately, this new Warbond Token that players will get from purchasing the Super Citizen Edition of Helldivers 2 arguably increases the value of this version of the game, without directly increasing its price. This is because Helldivers 2’s meta loadouts have significantly evolved since the Steeled Veterans Warbond was first released. More specifically, despite all the premium Warbonds for Helldivers 2 so far all having the same price, their value can vary greatly depending on the players’ preferences and what other gear they already have access to.
Especially for Xbox recruits, any new player in Helldivers 2 will naturally have a limited selection of weapons, armor, Stratagems, and Boosters available. Consequently, this new Warbond Token will give players an immediate boost to their firepower, ensuring their first few missions after being recruited for the Galactic War kick off with the biggest bang possible.
