As the Final War of One Piece is lurking right around the corner, it's clear that the major players in the world are slowly coming together and preparing themselves for the largest conflict in history. In order for the World Government and the forces of the pirates to ensure victory for their respective sides, the finding and usage of the Ancient Weapons seems to be imperative.

At the current moment, the true nature of only one of the Ancient Weapons is known, with that being Poseidon, whereas the others are still largely a mystery. However, as the Final Saga has officially started, fans can expect to hear of these elusive weapons much more, as they promise to play a massive role in the future and ending of One Piece, so let's see what this could end up looking like.

The concept of the Ancient Weapons has existed ever since One Piece was in its infancy, since Crocodile unveiled his grander plans for the world back in Alabasta, for which he needed Pluton. However, despite being very early aspects of the One Piece story, next to nothing is known about the true nature of these weapons, why they were created, and what role they will play in the Final Saga.

However, for the latter point, one can surmise what this could be. It's clear that each of these weapons is incredibly powerful and can change the tide in favor of the side that uses them in the Final War. Due to this, the pirates and the World Government will seek to unearth these weapons to give them the upper hand in the Final Saga, which will most likely end up with them being distributed on either side. As such, the most mysterious of the Ancient Weapons, Uranus, is widely believed to be in Imu's possession due to the erasure of Lulusia.

Conversely, the weapon Poseidon has manifested itself within Shirahoshi, who remains one of Luffy's most important allies in the series and one who will definitely play a massive role in the Final War, as can even be surmised by the Elbaf mural. This leaves Pluton, an incredibly powerful battleship that is currently sleeping beneath Wano, which is capable of destroying an entire island with one blast. Because of this, there are a lot of theories about how it will come into play.

Seeing as how the Straw Hats have already been to Wano, it's unlikely that they will go back just to unearth this legendary weapon, especially considering that Momonosuke still hasn't destroyed Wano's walls. The first theory states that the Cross Guild will eventually make their way to Wano, where they will be the ones to unearth Pluton and use it for their own means, as Crocodile has hinted at this since the start.

Another theory states that Big Mom and Kaido may have actually survived their entire ordeal on Wano, and, due to currently being at the base of Mount Fuji, may somehow make their return in the Final War atop this Ancient Weapon. Both theories hold some weight, but fans just have to wait and see what the outcome will be. Either way, it would create an incredible inversion in the Final War, since there would be a third party with an Ancient Weapon that's against both the World Government and the Straw Hats.

In the Final War itself, Poseidon is incredibly important, since Shirahoshi would call upon the Sea Kings to help defeat the forces of Imu, whereas the World Government, if they truly have Uranus, could pose an ever-present danger to those who stand in their way. Pluton seems to work along the same lines, and whoever has this fearsome weapon under their control will definitely be the victor of this inevitable conflict.

Why Are They So Strong?

The powers of the Ancient Weapons are unmatched.
Some theories liken their powers to the different Haki types.

At the current moment, fans only know the exact appearance and true nature of Poseidon, which is essentially a power that only manifests within a Princess of the royal line of Fishmen. The exact reason for this is still a mystery though, with the only thing that is known is the fact that Shirahoshi is the current user of this power and is presumably the first in centuries to have it after the queen of Fishman Island during Joyboy's time.

For the others, very little is known. Pluton is confirmed to be a battleship that can wipe away an entire island with a single blast, making it arguably the strongest weapon in all of One Piece. However, it has never been shown, with the only detail being its current position underneath Wano. Uranus is the greatest mystery of them all, since nothing is known about its appearance, abilities, or where it could possibly be. It's hinted at as being in the possession of the World Government due to what happened at Lulusia, but it is still unconfirmed to have been through Uranus.
