10 Anime Almost As Iconic as One Piece

One Piece is, undoubtedly, an iconic anime series. The One Piece manga began serialization back in 1997, and the anime adaptation by Toei Animation officially began in 1999. As a long-running series, One Piece has been ongoing ever since, and it's been a source of constant comfort for many fans, reaching an absolutely incredible level of popularity. Right now, One Piece is the world’s best-selling manga, and while it’s iconic, there are also other anime series with a similar level of popularity right now, including the likes of Dragon Ball, but also newer series like Demon Slayer.

Naruto

Naruto is one of the most iconic anime series ever, rivaling even the likes of One Piece. The series debuted a few years after One Piece and immediately after, it built a rivalry with Oda's beloved series. In the West, Naruto's popularity grew even higher than that of One Piece at one point. Overall, Naruto grew to become one of the best-known shonen series ever, with fans reserving a special place in their heart for this story.

Dragon Ball

Dragon Ball is known as the father of Shonen, and most importantly, this phenomenal series by Akira Toriyama revolutionized the genre. Without it, One Piece wouldn’t even exist in the ways fans know it today. Toriyama was Oda’s biggest influence, with the mangaka considering him a God. Dragon Ball’s worldwide fame can’t be understated.

Sailor Moon

Main Character: Usagi Tsukino

Sailor Moon has always been one of the biggest manga and anime series ever, and it stands on top when it comes to shoujo series. Sailor Moon is recognizable to most old anime fans, even those who have never watched anime. The series was also revolutionary for the industry and shaped future shoujo after it. Even today, it holds tremendous popularity.

Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer is a very recent shonen series, comparable to the likes of One Piece and Dragon Ball in terms of popularity. Being a part of the newer generation of manga, Jujutsu Kaisen is another exciting Shonen series, and its incredible battles and dark writing have made it quite iconic. The series is big in both anime and manga spheres and it has even managed to outsell One Piece on quite a few occasions. This series will only grow in influence once its biggest arcs get their own anime adaptation. In every way possible, Jujutsu Kaisen has already made a household name in the world of battle shonen.

Yu Yu Hakusho

Yu Yu Hakusho is Togashi’s first big hit series, long before Hunter x Hunter. Yu Yu Hakusho is still popular, even decades after its end, and just like Dragon Ball, it has shaped the destiny of many of the current series fans love. Togashi’s work was very influential in the sphere of battle shonen, and it has certainly stood the test of time.

Inuyasha played a significant role in popularizing Isekai, and many would consider it the best isekai ever, featuring a large cast of beloved characters, as well as a greatly written story. Inuyasha really had everything, be it, romance, action, or adventure.

Hunter X Hunter

Hunter X Hunter is Togashi’s biggest series so far, even surpassing the iconic Yu Yu Hakusho. Hunter X Hunter started its run in 1997 and is still ongoing, and fans can’t get enough of it despite the long hiatuses the series has been going on over the course of the last few years.

The story and characters have been an inspiration in the industry, and it has most certainly become one of the most well-known anime ever, receiving two major adaptations. If the manga continues to drop more chapters, the Hunter x Hunter anime will return soon.

Bleach

Tite Kubo's Bleach was always destined for greatness, and this series stood alongside Naruto and One Piece in Weekly Shonen Jump’s big three while it was being serialized.
