This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf Arc.

One Piece is currently in the Elbaf arc, which is truly the first big challenge for the Straw Hat Pirates since the final saga began. Egghead was certainly an exciting step, but the vast majority of the arc was focused only on securing Vegapunk’s escape and getting off the island for good. The real conflict of One Piece's Final Saga truly begins with the Elbaf arc. Fans have already seen the likes of Imu and the Holy Knights overrun the country, and Luffy, along with his crew, must deal with this problem.

One Piece's Elbaf arc will most likely continue for over a year, and as that happens, it is a given that new adventures will be brewing for the crew. What most fans don't realize is that the post-Elbaf scenario of the One Piece world will get crazier than expected as Oda is planning another timeskip here, more important than ever before. One Piece has already seen one major timeskip after the Paramount War, which saw the Straw Hats train for two years, and now, another, slightly different one, is on the way. The basis of the timeskip was set by Oda himself after careful and very thoughtful planning, and it's all coming to the surface slowly.

Elbaf's Time Dilation Will Give One Piece A Unique Timeskip

In Oda's One Piece, every single dialogue holds tremendous significance. Fans know for a fact that everything that Oda writes in his manga can have tremendous importance, sometimes even years later. That's why keen-eyed fans would've noticed that Oda is setting up Elbaf to have a different sense of time compared to the remainder of the world. Elbaf is a country of Giants and everything here is massive, but it appears that this doesn't just apply to the people here, or the flora, it can even apply to abstract concepts like time.

Time in Elbaf might not be perceived as it is outside the country. Now, this doesn't necessarily mean time flows slower in Elbaf. In fact, if anything, that's already proven not to be the case. Elbaf's time flows at the same rate as the rest of the world. The time that Dorry and Brogy spent outside matches with the time the Giants spent looking for them. But, the sense of time itself gets dulled in Elbaf, and that's a fact.

Louis Arnote's Warning Is Important

At the very beginning of Elbaf, fans saw a note by the famous explorer, Louis Arnote, and he simply stated:

“Do not overstay your welcome in Elbaf”

On the surface, fans couldn't quite tell what to make of it. However, with more clues, it's become clear that this means one loses the sense of time as they continue in Elbaf. The biggest proof of this is Scopper Gaban. In One Piece chapter 1152, Scopper Gaban met with Shanks again, and as the two spent time together, they spoke of the disbandment of the crew. To Gaban it had been 3 or 4 years, but Shanks stated that it had been 10 years since.

To add to that, the Holy Knights have barely spent any time in Elbaf, but Imu themself showed up and complained that they were taking too long, when that shouldn't be possible. In Elbaf, everything is around 3.5 times bigger. Giants live about 3.5 times the life of an average human, and just about everything else is 3 times bigger. It makes sense that time probably feels over 3 times “bigger” in this country too.

The World Of One Piece Will Be More Chaotic Than Ever Before After The New Timeskip

One Piece's next timeskip is already on the way, and it's more exciting than ever before. In this case, fans will be with the Straw Hats during the timeskip in Elbaf. But when the crew leaves the country, time in the world outside will have moved much faster. If the 3-4 times equation is correct, then if the Straw Hats spend a month in the country, then 3-4 months could've passed in the outside world, and that means the war would've progressed a lot, especially when it comes to the Revolutionary Army, and the World Government.

It also means that Shanks will have made tremendous moves, as well as Blackbeard. Most importantly, fans might even get to see the Cross Guild fighting against the Navy as months will have passed after Elbaf, meaning the world will be more chaotic than ever before.

Eiichiro Oda's One Piece will be on break next week. One Piece Chapter 1166 will be out in two weeks. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1166 is November 23, 2025. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
