There are numerous pirates in the world of One Piece, but only a few have made a name for themselves, and among them are the Yonko. It is a title that brings fear to even the strongest of individuals in One Piece. The Yonko are an unstoppable force of nature. They are four of the strongest pirates in the entire world who possess strength beyond anyone's comprehension.

They are a threat to the World Government and are considered one of the three great powers that reside within the world. On top of that, they possess insane Haki as well as Devil Fruits that make them tremendously dangerous. There are only a few who have actually fought against them and won. This is because the Yonko, as previously mentioned, are a relentless force that can't easily be defeated.

Trafalgar D. Water Law

Law generates a room - One Piece
  • Yonko Defeated: Big Mom
  • Battle: Onigashima Raid

Law is the captain of the Heart Pirates, and he is one of the strongest members of the Worst Generation. He is the person who suggested to Luffy to take down Kaido of the Hundred Beasts. After the time-skip, Law made an alliance with Luffy to systematically dismantle Kaido's operations in an effort to weaken his army and ultimately defeat him. They did eventually reach Kaido, but fate had other things in store for Law.

During the Raid of Onigashima, Law faced off against Big Mom alongside Kid. Both of them were overpowered by her immeasurable strength, but Law got the upper hand in the battle after awakening his Devil Fruit. His Devil Fruit was very powerful, but after awakening, it became even more powerful, which helped him in defeating Big Mom for good. Unfortunately, it didn't get him the title of a Yonko.

Monkey D. Luffy

Became A God That Can Beat Anyone

Luffy uses his powers to turn into a giant - One Piece
  • Yonko Defeated: Kaido
  • Battle: Raid Of Onigashima

Luffy has fought against numerous opponents during the course of his adventures, and some have defeated him, but he always becomes the one who ultimately wins. Right now, the biggest and toughest fight he ever had was with none other than former Yonko, Kaido. Kaido was the captain of the Beast Pirates who possessed strength that surpassed Luffy by a very large margin.

Luffy was able to surpass Kaido and defeat him when he unlocked his Devil Fruit Awakening, granting him Gear 5. This was such a power-up that he managed to close the strength gap with Kaido easily. It allowed Luffy to beat Kaido decisively and claim the title of the Yonko all for himself.

Eustass Kid

Has One Of The Most Destructive Abilities

One Piece Captain Kid Staring At The Camera
  • Yonko Defeated: Big Mom
  • Battle: Raid Of Onigashima

Kid is a member of the Worst Generation, and is a very ambitious individual who challenged Yonko right after entering the New World. There isn't a single Yonko that he hasn't challenged. He defeated one of the Sweet Commanders of Big Mom and raided an island that was under the protection of the Yonko. His biggest mistake was to face off against Shanks, who utterly beat him, and Ben Beckman took one of his arms.

For one reason or another, Luffy has never engaged in a major battle with these characters in One Piece.

Later, he got his chance at redemption, which was against another Yonko, Big Mom. He fought alongside his fellow Worst Generation member, Law. Together, they overcame instrumental odds as they defeated Big Mom during the Raid on Onigashima.

Blackbeard

Possesses Two Strongest Devil Fruits

Blackbeard and Doc Q attack the Heart Pirates - One Piece
  • Yonko Defeated: Whitebeard
  • Battle: War Of Marineford

Blackbeard is the first person in the current storyline that technically defeated a Yonko. The word "technically" is used here because Whitebeard fought many individuals during this time and sustained numerous injuries, which worsened his condition greatly. Blackbeard took advantage of this opportunity. He fought against a dying Whitebeard, and this battle was very short-lived. Whitebeard had the upper hand in most of the battle. Unfortunately, Blackbeard delivered the final blow to Whitebeard.

This became a turning point for Blackbeard's life as he defeated the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates and took their territories later down the line. He did all this in the matter of the time-skip, where he also gained the title of Yonko, which boosted his influence even more than before.
