One Piece: 7 Characters Stronger Than The Gorosei

One Piece’s Final Saga started a while ago, and Oda has already revealed some of the most fearsome enemies that the Straw Hats will face. Among them are the 5 Elders, also known as the Gorosei. These individuals have scary Yokai powers, and even more terrifying, immortality. Even Luffy can’t harm them at the moment in One Piece, but some characters, like Shanks or Scopper Gaban, could take one of them on, and possibly win.

Blackbeard

One of the Yonkos

Blackbeard is one of the Yonkos, and one of the most dangerous ones at that. Blackbeard is the only person ever known to be able to consume two Devil Fruits, granting him insane powers. When it comes to Haki, however, Blackbeard hasn’t showcased any insane feats. But his Devil Fruit, the Yami Yami no Mi, or the darkness Devil Fruit, can absorb abilities.

While it isn’t confirmed to be a solution to the Gorosei and their powers, it’s highly likely that this could be a great counter to them. This could give Blackbeard the edge in an all-out battle against one of the Five Elders.

Scopper Gaban

The Mountain Eater

Gaban getting finally introduced into the current story during the Elbaf arc was quite a shock to many fans. Scopper Gaban is Roger’s left wing, and an insanely powerful pirate at that. Gaban was able to take on both Luffy and Zoro at the same time, but his feats don’t even stop there. Scopper Gaban is the very first character in the series to showcase the incredible skill of harming a character with immortality. Gaban easily took down Saint Sommers in a single strike with his Conqueror's Haki. This means Gaban could definitely take down a Gorosei.

Silvers Rayleigh

The Dark King

Silvers Rayleigh is another one of Roger’s pirate king wings. Rayleigh is strong and has showcased his power with Haki and sword skills a few times previously. While fans have never seen him use haki strong enough to cancel out immortality, fans pretty much know he can use such Haki through Scopper Gaban. Gaban and Rayleigh are pretty much equal in power, so if Gaban can harm a Holy Knight, and in turn a Gorosei, so can Rayleigh.

Loki

The Accursed Prince of Elbaf

Loki is a character whose introduction in Elbaf shook the One Piece fandom. There’s still a lot that fans don’t know about him, and even though he has yet to go all out, fans can tell just how powerful he is. After all, it needed the intervention of Shanks to take down this beast. Loki supposedly has a godly Devil Fruit, and some incredible Haki. Loki himself has claimed that he knows how to bypass immortality, making him capable of taking down a Gorosei.

Garp

The Hero of the Marines

When it comes to the Marines, Garp is their very best member. Garp was renowned as the Hero of the Marines, and he was a man who fought legends like Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, and stood next to him as a big rival.

Garp is old now, but he is still quite strong, as seen when he almost took out the Blackbeard pirates single-handedly. Garp has quite powerful haki, which would make it very likely that he can bypass immortality.

Shanks

The Red-Haired Yonko

Shanks is the only Yonko left standing from the last generation, and his powers shouldn’t be underestimated. Red Haired Shanks doesn’t have a devil fruit, but one thing he excels in is Haki. His Haki might be the best right now in One Piece, being comparable to the level of Joy Boy’s.

With this level of Haki, Shanks can bypass the Five Elders’ immortality and land damage. Fans will see just how powerful Shanks is when he finally goes all out in the series.

Imu Nerona

The Secret Sovereign of the World

Saint Imu is, at the moment, the most powerful One Piece character around. Imu is the secret sovereign of the world, and controls everything to do with the World Government, including the 5 Elders. If there’s one character who can effortlessly take down a Gorosei, it’s undoubtedly Imu. After all, fans have seen how Imu killed Saint Saturn when he failed his mission on Egghead. Just like Imu grants the Gorosei powers, Imu can take these powers away, and render them powerless.

One Piece Chapter 1159 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on August 31. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1159 is September 7, 2025.
