This article contains spoilers from Demon Slayer and One Piece.
When it comes to the world of Shonen manga, or manga in general, One Piece stands at the very top as the best of all. The series sis generally considered to be the best written manga by the vast majority of the fans, and in Japan, it holds an even more exalted status. One Piece is the life of Shonen Jump, and that goes without saying. The series has managed to rack up incredible numbers over the course of the last few years, and it continues to do so to this day. Overall, One Piece is the most sold manga in history. Not just that, but One Piece is also among the most sold books by a single author, having recently beaten even Harry Potter.
The Official Replacement Of The One Piece Anime Has Been Confirmed
The One Piece anime is being replaced, and the new series will impress fans with its upgrade.
But, One Piece sales won't always be on top. Just like with any other story, One Piece has its ups and downs, and at the same time, other stories also tend to have spurts of popularity that allow them to momentarily surpass the series. In the month of September, an old Shonen manga that wrapped up in 2020 showed up to beat it once again, and that manga is Demon Slayer. After the incredible success of Infinity Castle Part 1, Demon Slayer has emerged as one of the highest-selling manga this year, and September was strong for it once again.
Demon Slayer Returns To Surpass One Piece In Monthly Manga Sales
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Caused Massive Backlog Sales
- The manga finished in the #4 spot for September
- One Piece manga sales were low due to no new volume releases
It is no surprise to know that Demon Slayer manga sales have been greatly boosted by the success of Infinity Castle Part 1 all over the world. Fans know very well that Infinity Castle Part 1 is an absolutely massive release, and more than that, it broke all the records in Japan and is a global hit as well. As such, backlog sales for all Demon Slayer volumes are skyrocketing. In the month of September, Demon Slayer was the fourth most sold manga in Japan, with 345k copies. Ahead of it were three manga, all with new volume releases, those being The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity, Chainsaw Man, and Kaiju no. 8.
December 21 Will Be a Big Day for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 was huge, and fans might learn the release date of the next movie on December 21.
One Piece, although massive in Japan, wasn't in the list of the most sold manga in Japan, and that's expected. The last One Piece volume dropped in July 2025, and a new one should be coming soon. Since the last volume dropped so long ago, it isn't a surprise not to see One Piece in the charts.
Demon Slayer Will Continue Strong In October
Fans Will See Demon Slayer's Popularity Explode Even More
As far as Demon Slayer goes, fans know very well that Infinity Castle still carries immense hype, which means that the series will go on to have a very strong month yet again, despite no manga release at all. That said, manga sales for Demon Slayer are slowly dropping now. In August, it was the most sold manga in Japan, while it dropped to #4 in September. In October, it is expected to drop even further down, but it'll likely still be in the top 10.
One Piece Chapter 1163 will be out in two weeks. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on October 26. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1162 is October 26, 2025. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
