Summary

  • Robin's Flower-Flower Fruit has untapped potential with Haki use.
  • Bartolomeo's Barrier-Barrier Fruit could be more powerful in smart hands.
  • Blueno's Door-Door Fruit can trap foes in a pocket dimension with creativity.

Devil Fruit abilities in One Piece have always been one of the most interesting power systems in anime. While fairly simple conceptually, in the application, Oda generally pushes each new power to its limits, often taking simple ideas and pushing them to their creative limits. From here, the audience is shown plenty of characters who show off just how much potential these Devil Fruits have through a combination of talent and creativity.

However, the Devil Fruits that are shown to reach their full potential aren’t the only ones that could be incredibly powerful. There are also plenty of Devil Fruits in One Piece that would be far stronger if they had a more creative user. Overall, these Devil Fruits are generally thought to be some of the fruits with the highest amounts of potential in the eyes of fans.

These Devil Fruits Have Massive Amounts Of Potential

One Piece Only Scratches The Surface Of Their Power

In a post by a now-deleted user on Reddit, the poster initiates a discussion surrounding the concept of Devil Fruits with high potential. For this discussion, fans present their cases for Devil Fruits that are fairly underutilized by their current user, yet with more training or a better user, could be much stronger than most originally anticipated. Although many of the characters that utilize these fruits are already very strong, fans believe that there are certain creative aspects of their fruit that the characters are overlooking.

Robin's Devil Fruit Could Be So Much Stronger

With Haki THis Fruit May Be Unstoppable

Chapter 114, Episode 67

Basic Ability

Sprouts Limbs On Any Surface

First up is Robin and the Flower-Flower Fruit, a Devil Fruit that is already fairly well utilized by the archaeologist of the Straw Hats. Giving her the ability to sprout limbs on any surface, fans believe that with the use of Haki, the potential of Robin’s Devil Fruit would skyrocket. Additionally, some fans take a darker approach, suggesting that Robin could potentially use her ability internally on her opponents, inflicting far more damage than creating limbs on them externally.

Power, speed... They are useless against me. - Robin

Bartolomeo's Devil Fruit Could Be An Offensive And Defensive Power House

This Fruit Needs A Smarter User

Creates Barriers By Crossing Fingers

Another fruit that may have a bit of wasted potential in the eyes of fans is Bartolomeo’s Barrier-Barrier Fruit. Although Barto uses the fruit fairly well, creating near-indestructible barriers for both combat and transportation, many fans believe that these barriers could be used in more creative ways. Although Barto isn’t the smartest character, if he started using his barriers in similar ways to a character like Marvel’s Sue Storm, he may gain a massive power-up.

All It Needs Is Someone Stronger Than Foxy

Basic Ability

Blasts The Target With A Beam That Slows Them Down

Another potentially powerful fruit that has a weak user is Foxy and the Slow-Slow Fruit. Allowing the user to slow down objects with a fairly fast-moving beam, hitting an enemy once is likely to result in an immediate loss if this fruit is being utilized by stronger One Piece characters. In the hands of someone like Garp for example, slowing an opponent would allow Garp to unleash the full extent of his attacks on an opponent who can’t defend themselves.

Chapter 326, Episode 231

Basic Ability

Creates Doors In Anything

Finally, some fans believe that Blueno’s Door-Door Fruit has far more potential than the former CP9 agent was able to utilize. Although Blueno did a fairly good job with the fruit, using it both as a means of teleportation, by creating doors in the air, and disorienting his foes, by turning them into doors, fans believe there are more aspects to the fruit that he left underutilized. Mainly, fans feel the concept of the space between the doors that the CP9 agent creates could be utilized more. Potentially, a strong user could force people into this strange pocket dimension between the doors and seal them in by removing the exit.

I can change anything into a door. - Blueno

Some other fruits with lots of potential include Buggy’s Chop-Chop Fruit, Luffy’s Human-Human Fruit Model: Nika, and Sugar’s Hobby-Hobby Fruit. In the end, each of these fruits has some sort of undiscovered usage or weak user that holds it back from becoming one of the stronger Devil Fruits in One Piece. Hopefully, fans will have a chance to see these fruits at their full potential, though with Blueno’s Door-Door Fruit and Foxy’s Slow-Slow Fruit on the list, it seems unlikely that each Devil Fruit will have a chance to shine before the end of the series.
