Summary
- The Yami Yami no Mi, or the Dark-Dark Fruit, is possibly the strongest Logia Devil Fruit, but it doubles the user's damage taken.
- The Hobi Hobi no Mi, wielded by Sugar, is a powerful Paramecia Devil Fruit that stops the user's aging.
- The Hito Hito no Mi, consumed by Tony Tony Chopper, is perhaps the worst Zoan-type Devil Fruit that has no benefits for humans.
Devil Fruits are the primary power system in One Piece. Introduced in the very first episode of the series, these fruits are mysterious objects that, upon being eaten, grant the user otherworldly abilities that can range from incredibly weak to astronomically powerful. The three categories of Devil Fruits, Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan, all have unique and powerful abilities that differ significantly from the others.
As such, though the power-ups can be incredibly strong, all Devil Fruits come with the common drawback of taking away the user's ability to swim. Despite this, there are some Devil Fruits in One Piece that, while powerful, come with drawbacks that are unique to them. In this article, let's go over the Devil Fruits which have their own sets of drawbacks that can't be seen in any others in the series.

Rocks was initially confirmed as being Roger's greatest-ever rival, and this fan theory could explain how they came to be as such!

The Yami Yami no Mi, or Dark-Dark Fruit, is easily among the most powerful Devil Fruits in the entire series and is definitely the strongest Logia type. With this fruit, Blackbeard has the power to control and manifest darkness around him which has gravitational properties, in the sense that it can completely encapsulate whatever the user wants and keep anything within it. More than this, it has the ultimate power to negate other Devil Fruit abilities, making many think that it's the strongest one in the series.
Fate has chosen me to conquer this world!
However, unlike other Logia Devil Fruits, it doesn't allow Blackbeard to become the element itself. Instead, the damage that the user takes is doubled, making them feel even more pain than usual if they ever get hit, which is the exact opposite of the signature ability of all other Logias. These Devil Fruits give their users intangibility, making them impervious to all non-Haki-infused attacks. As strong as the offensive potential of the darkness fruit is, this is a major drawback.
The Hobi Hobi no Mi Is Exceptionally Powerful And Underrated

Although Sugar is a relatively minor character in the grand scheme of the story, her Devil Fruit may be one of the most powerful Paramecia types in all of One Piece. However, its main strength doesn't show in a combat situation but is perfect for subterfuge, since a single touch grants her the ability to turn her target into a toy. Not only does this greatly nerf their strength and abilities, but it also makes everyone forget everything about them.
I have to make things up to the young master! I'll turn every last person in this country back into a toy again!
While this ability is incredibly powerful, allowing her to challenge some of the most powerful characters in the series just by touching them, there is quite a significant downside to it, which is that the user stays the same age for the rest of their lives upon consuming it. Sugar was a child when she ate this fruit, so she has stayed the same age since then, appearing as a child at all times despite being 22 years old.
One Piece: Oda Has Already Revealed Two Swordsmen Even Stronger Than Mihawk
Since the beginning of the series, Mihawk has held the title of the World's Strongest Swordsman, but these characters are likely even stronger!
The Hito Hito no Mi Doesn't Do Much For Normal People

Tony Tony Chopper is one of the most beloved and important characters in the entire series. Due to spending his life under the tutelage of Dr. Hiriluk and Dr. Kureha, Chopper has become one of the most talented doctors on the planet, having the unique ability to analyze and cure complex diseases in a short amount of time. Because of this talent, he has been able to cure hundreds of patients.
I'll become a doctor that can cure anything!
However, his Devil Fruit, the Hito Hito no Mi, is widely regarded as the worst in the entire series. This is because it is a Zoan type that can only really work if eaten by animals, since it grants the user the intelligence and sentience of a regular human being. If eaten by a human, it provides virtually no benefits, as even stated by Oda. In fact, eating this Devil Fruit is objectively worse for a human, since it simply takes away their ability to swim without even giving them anything meaningful in return.
