Instead, Shanks used his newfound position to gather information on Imu and the World Government and help others. In One Piece Chapter 1167, it was officially revealed that Shanks was the one to save Fisher Tiger, a character fans haven’t seen since the flashback in Fishman Island. Fisher Tiger’s story was an emotional one, and fans were glad to see him brought up again in the story thanks to Shanks.
Fisher Tiger Makes A Comeback In One Piece Chapter 1167
If there’s one arc that One Piece fans greatly overlook, it’s the Fishman Island arc — the first proper arc fans got after the One Piece timeskip. Fishman Island had some absolutely incredible moments, and one of the biggest highlights of this arc was, undoubtedly, Fisher Tiger. First mentioned in Amazon Lily, Fisher Tiger was a great Fishman who freed countless slaves in Marijoa.

Fisher Tiger earned a lot of admiration from his acts, and recently, in One Piece chapter 1167, he made a major comeback in the story. After so many years, fans were glad to see him back, even if just for a brief moment.

Big reveals were made concerning Fisher Tiger’s escape from Marijoa in One Piece Chapter 1167. Previously, fans believed he was able to free himself and the other slaves on his own, but that wasn’t actually the case.
One Piece: Oda Reveals His Plans For Shanks In The Final Saga
Shanks has a huge role to play in the final saga. Oda has already hinted at it in One Piece.
Fisher Tiger had unexpected help from Shanks, who was a God's Blade back then. Without Shanks, Tiger wouldn’t have been able to achieve what he did on Marijoa. In One Piece chapter 1167, Fisher Tiger was seen running in chains when he came across Shanks. The red-haired God's Blade quickly struck his chains and even opened the armory for him, telling Tiger its location. Tiger then went on to use the weaponry in the armory to cause a massive fire and use it as an opportunity to free slaves and escape.
Without Shanks, Koala, And The Boa Sisters Couldn’t Have Escaped Slavery
Shanks helping Fisher Tiger has broader implications in the story. After all, Fisher Tiger freed many slaves on Marijoa, including Boa Hancock and her two sisters, Boa Sandersonia and Boa Marigold, and even Koala.
Boa Hancock being freed definitely changed the trajectory of the story. Without her, Luffy could’ve died multiple times on his endeavors to save Ace. Hancock was the one to safely get Luffy into Impel Down, and then, she saved his life multiple times again during the Summit War.

Beyond all that, Boa Hancock also has a major role to play in the Final Saga. Shanks indirectly saving her is quite beautiful and it is only a matter of time before Oda reveals more such secrets about Red Haired Shanks.
