It is no surprise to know that Oda is drawing such fantastic chapters in One Piece's final saga already. After all, Oda has been itching to draw the Final Saga of the story since 1999. Back then, Oda stated clearly that the part of the story he's most excited for is the Final Saga. However, he also acknowledged a big obstacle that he had in front of him, and that was the time required to get to the Final Saga.

Oda has always miscalculated the time it takes to wrap up arcs or to reach certain points in the story. Oda has hoped for One Piece to end in 5 years after its serialization in Jump, and 28 years later, the story is still nowhere near the end.

Still, Oda clearly stated that after the end of the Wano Country arc, the series will enter its final saga, and that's what's officially happened.

The Final Saga of One Piece will undoubtedly be on a completely different level as it unfolds, and this is in line with Oda's dream of cooking up a story where the last part serves as its highest peak. When I was a kid, I had this vision: "I wish I could draw a manga series in which the finale is its highest peak! I wonder if I'll be up to it!!!". Now, we're almost done with the Wano Country Arc, and all the preparation work is ready. It took me 25 years to reach this point, hahaha. But it's still fine if you start reading from here... From now on, this will be ONE PIECE! I will draw all the mysteries left in this world that I have been hiding until now. It's going to be really interesting. Please fasten your seatbelts. Thank you so much, I hope you keep up with me a bit longer!

Will The Final Saga Live Up To The Expectations?

The Final Saga Will Go Above And Beyond

Whether the Final Saga will live up to all expectations or not remains to be seen, but fans can already judge One Piece based on what they have in front of them. It is clear that Egghead and Elbaf have been absolutely phenomenal so far and many already consider Egghead to be One Piece's best arc. Elbaf, on the other hand, is showing the potential to surpass all other arcs in the story, and things can only get better from here onwards. Oda has an amazing track record and based on all the expectations that he's set for the fans, it would be foolish to say that the Final Saga cannot go on to surpass expectations. This will be One Piece's highest peak, and fans are in for a ride.

One Piece chapter 1148 will be out soon, in a week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday.
