Although the events of the God Valley Incident are largely lost to history, there are a few people alive who still remember it. Those who do all state that the greatest battle that took place here was the legendary clash between the strongest figures of the old era; Rocks, Roger, and Garp. It's known that Roger and Garp formed an unlikely alliance on the island in order to defeat Rocks, who is being portrayed as the strongest of the old generation. It's widely assumed that this battle marked Rocks' death.

Fans had always believed Whitebeard to be alluding to Roger, but it's likely that he was talking about Shanks' father, Garling, the entire time, since both were present on opposing sides during the God Valley Incident and are both renowned as some of the strongest figures in history. It's likely that Garling gave Whitebeard those infamous scars.

It is known that the God Valley Incident took place decades ago, so many of the characters involved weren't necessarily in their prime during it. The best examples of this are Big Mom and Kaido, who would eventually go on to become Emperors of the Sea and some of the most powerful pirates in history, making them the perfect candidates to fight against Roger's most powerful allies and crewmates, Rayleigh and Gaban. This is a perfect match-up to make, considering the stage each of these characters was in during this period.

The strongest factions during this event were primed to battle.

The Rocks Pirates, the strongest crew in the world, were wiped out at an island called God Valley according to the news reports!

Although there were many parties present on God Valley, the story is very clearly setting up the Rocks Pirates and the Gods' Knights as the primary warring factions. The strength of the pirate crew was incredible, to the point where none, not even the World Government, could properly stand against them. Along with the fact that the remaining Rocks Pirates must have been preoccupied with fights of their own, them going up against the Gods' Knights is the best possibility, with Shiki perhaps even taking on St. Sommers or someone close to his level.

Just like with the Gods' Knights and Rocks Pirates, the Roger Pirates and the Marines were two other significant factions who were present during this event. Seeing how Garp was always chasing Roger with his Marines, it's very likely that those on his ship also fostered some kind of rivalry against the Roger Pirates. So, while their captains were busy in their own battles, these two crews definitely would have fought during the God Valley Incident.
