Swords are possibly the most ubiquitous aspect for fighters across the entire One Piece franchise. Whether it's a legendary pirate, a notable Marine, or even one of the 5 Elders of the World Government, it's quite clear to see that swordsmen can exist anywhere from the lowest levels to the highest tiers of power in the setting.

As such, it is the dream of one of One Piece's most beloved characters, Roronoa Zoro, to become the strongest swordsman in the world, and to help him get there, he has Enma; a legendary Great Grade Blade. However, there are a few notable armaments even stronger than this sword, so let's go over what these are.

Shusui Is The Only Great Grade Black Blade

Users: Shimotsuki Ryuma, Roronoa Zoro

  • A legendary blade.

Unlike most of the other strongest armaments in the entire world, Shusui isn't a Supreme Grade Blade. However, it isn't far off, as it is one of the legendary 21 Great Grade Blades that once belonged to Shimotsuki Ryuma, who is spoken of as being the single most powerful swordsman in history and is thought to be on a similar level of strength to Joyboy himself.

The real reason why Shusui is stronger than Enma, despite being at the same level as it, is because it is a Black Blade; one of only two known in the world. A Black Blade is essentially one that is permanently imbued with Haki without the user having to do so manually, making it far heavier than a regular sword and incredibly destructive on top of that. A sword will only turn into a Black Blade after years of extended infusion with Haki and dedication to swordsmanship, which is why it's so rare to see.

Yakuza Kasen Is The Latest Supreme Grade Blade To Be Revealed

User: Admiral Fujitora

  • An incredible shortsword.

Although it was seen in action substantially during the Dressrosa and Reverie arcs, the truth of Yakuza Kasen was only revealed in SBS 109, where Oda officially confirmed it as one of the 12 Supreme Grade Swords of One Piece. This alone places it on a level far above every other weapon that doesn't belong to its class, including Enma.

Of course, Fujitora isn't strictly a swordsman like the other wielders of the Supreme Grade Blades, but his mastery of the weapon can be seen in the way he uses it in conjunction with the gravity-defying powers of his Devil Fruit.

Murakumogiri Is A Gigantic Blade With Incredible Strength

User: Edward 'Whitebeard' Newgate

  • A gigantic armament.

Although Murakumogiri is one of the 12 Supreme Grade Swords, in truth, it can be classified as a Naginata. Still, though, in terms of pure, unadulterated physical might, Murakumogiri is likely the strongest weapon in all of One Piece. Not only is its craftsmanship and quality second to none, its titanic size means that it can only be wielded by those at the physical peak, such as Whitebeard himself.

The best showcase of its powers came whenever Whitebeard fought against Roger, with both of their weapons creating island-spanning waves of Conqueror's Haki. On top of this, Whitebeard was even able to imbue Murakumogiri with his Devil Fruit powers to create powerful shockwaves, which may speak to a hidden characteristic of these incredible weapons.

Ace Was The Sword Of The King Of The Pirates

User: Gol D. Roger

  • The sword of the Pirate King.

Ace was the sword of Gol D. Roger and also one of the 12 Supreme Grade Swords. Due to the clashes that Roger and Whitebeard had over the years, especially the only one that was shown, it is implied that Ace was at a similar level of strength as Murakumogiri, though this does remain speculation.

Another speculative idea behind Ace is that some fans think it may have been a Black Blade due to its distinctive black shine in this same duel, though this is also unconfirmed. What is known, however, is the fact that Roger had no Devil Fruit, meaning that he had to rely on his Haki mastery with Ace to make a name for himself, showing that it is not only incredibly strong, but also just as important.

The Shodai Kitetsu Is The Greatest Of The Kitetsu Lineage

User: St. Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro

  • The blade of an Elder.

Across the entire setting of One Piece, the Kitetsu lineage of swords are known for being some of the most powerful weapons in the world, but are also infamous for being cursed to bring a horrific end to their owners. The greatest of these is the Supreme Grade Blade, the Shodai Kitetsu, which is strongly implied to be used by the Elder, Nusjuro.

Each of the Kitetsu blades are categorized as Meito, so the one called the greatest of them all must be incredibly powerful. This was shown to be the case during the Egghead arc, where Nusjuro effortlessly cut down multiple Pacifistas and even the massive Labophase building with a single swing of his sword.

Yoru Is Likely The Strongest Weapon In The Series

User: Dracule Mihawk

  • The only Supreme Grade Black Blade.

As stated previously, a Black Blade is formed when a sword is imbued with a lot of Haki over the course of many years of dedicated swordsmanship, making it incredibly powerful even without having to put Haki into it. Not only is Yoru a Supreme Grade Sword, but it is also one of the only two Black Blades in the series on top of that.

Due to Mihawk devoting his life to mastering swordsmanship, he was able to make his Supreme Grade weapon of choice a Black Blade, which sets it apart even in such legendary company. When he eventually makes his long-awaited, full combat debut, Mihawk will show exactly why he is regarded as the strongest swordsman in the world.
