This article contains spoilers for One Piece's Final Saga.
Summary
- Vegapunk's role in One Piece remains important post-Egghead Island despite the loss, with potential plans to revive Stella.
- Lilith escaped unharmed from Egghead Island and plans to stay on Elbaf, possibly working to save Kuma.
- Vegapunk may join the Final War in One Piece, with Satellites fighting on different sides, leading to an uncertain future.
With the current chaos that is befalling the land of Elbaf, the future of One Piece, now more than ever, seems largely uncertain. Between the unleashing of Loki and the current kidnapping attempt on the Giant children at the hands of the God’s Knights, so many things are happening in the story, that it’s hard to pay attention to every character that is currently present on Elbaf. However, there are plenty of characters on One Piece’s Elbaf, who don’t get the same attention online that a character like Loki does.
Vegapunk, although suffering an unfortunate fate on Egghead Island, is still a fairly substantial part of the One Piece story. Additionally, with one of the Satellites currently accompanying the Straw Hat on Elbaf, it seems that Vegapunk’s role in the series is far from over. Although it may seem unlikely now, the future for Vegapunk may be more complex than many fans might initially expect.

Despite having the odds stacked against them, these One Piece underdogs overcame the adversity to grow and develop as characters.
Vegapunk's Journey During Egghead Island
The Betrayal Of York And Lilith's Escape
As many fans are well aware, although Vegapunk was originally a single person, later on, the scientist decided to split his consciousness into 7 different bodies. With the main body being referred to now as Stella, Vegapunk managed to place his good, evil, intelligence, wisdom, violence, and greed into other bodies, called the Satellites of Vegapunk. These are referred to as Shaka, Lilith, Edison, Pythagoras, Atlas, and York respectively. Although each individual being is their own person, they are all technically Vegapunk.
He's an odd man, but true to his desires, and trustworthy. - Dragon on Vegapunk
After the events of the Egghead Arc and York’s betrayal, Vegapunk’s main body, Stella, was killed by Kizaru. Additionally, most of Vegapunk’s Satellites were destroyed as well, though most were able to transfer their consciousness into Edison, leaving Lilith, as the only Satellite to escape Egghead Island unharmed and still on the side of good. From here, Lilith left with the Straw Hat Pirates and joined the crew on their journey to Elbaf.
Vegapunk Arrives At Elbaf With The Straw Hats
Lilith May Be Able To Revive Stella
- Lilith Escaped The Egghead Island Incident
- Vegapunk Will Stay In Elbaf
After arriving at the island of Elbaf and the confusion about the missing Straw Hats is resolved, Lilith reveals that the crew had managed to rescue an exact clone of Vegapunk, something that could potentially be used as a new body to house the consciousnesses of the Satellites. Additionally, Lilith also informs the group that she will be staying on Elbaf to create a laboratory on the island. From here, it’s safe to assume that, with the survival of the other Satellites with Edison, Vegapunk, minus York, may soon be in full operation on the island of Giants in the future.
At the same time, the Worst Generation member, Bonney, also asks Lilith if she plans on finding a cure for Kuma, which Lilith explains is something she intends to do. This means that soon after setting up shop and solving the issues of the Satellites, the first thing that the Vegapunks might work on is saving Kuma. Although it’s impossible to tell how long it could take, this may be Vegapunk’s main role in the series for the foreseeable future.
Vegapunk May Be Important For The Final Battle
The Satellites May Return By The Time Of The War
Beyond this, it’s difficult to tell what role Vegapunk may have in the landscape of One Piece. As for the other Satellites, it seems likely that York may attempt to continue allying herself with the World Government, in an effort to become a Celestial Dragon. On the flip side, Edison, along with the remaining Satellites, may be on a fast track to assist the Revolutionary Army. Still, outside of speculation, the only certain element of Vegapunk’s story is what’s currently happening on Elbaf with Lilith.
So if I wait, can you make daddy better again? - Bonney to Lilith
Still, although Vegapunk may spend the foreseeable future on Elbaf, it seems likely that the scientist will join the Final War of One Piece. Overall, it seems likely that Lilith, Edison, and potentially Shaka, Pythagoras, Atlas, and Stella will fight on Luffy’s side. However, it seems York may be fighting with the World Government if she isn’t put in jail first. In the end, although One Piece is full of surprises, this may be Vegapunk’s future in the series, at least for the time being.
