The legendary pirate lived many years prior to the current timeline, but his impact has not faded away. However, in the latest One Piece chapter, Oda revealed a crucial detail about another character, and it was none other than Gecko Moria.

In the latest cover story, Eiichiro Oda confirmed that Gecko Moria's actual name is Kozuki Moria, meaning he belongs to the same family as Oden, Momonosuke, Hiyori, and Sukiyaki. It also adds a new meaning to the fight between Moria and Kaido all those years ago. Moria was not just fighting for the sake of fame but also for his people. Moria fought valiantly, but Kaido was a bit too much for him.

What's interesting is that Oden was still alive at the time, and he could have easily teamed up with Moria to end Kaido's reign, but he kept his promise of being a fool's lord. While the past cannot be changed, Moria's lineage has certainly made things more interesting. The members of the Kozuki clan are known for being able to read the Poneglyphs, and since Moria belongs to the same clan, it implies that he must be able to do the same. The Poneglyphs hold the answers to all the biggest mysteries in the world, and being able to read them is an invaluable skill.
Gecko Moria Will Join The Cross Guild
Moria's Ability Is Unique And Highly Coveted
Gecko Moria's ability to read the writings on Poneglyphs is certainly going to attract attention from others. Blackbeard tried to recruit him, as he likely knew about Moria's past. During the Marineford arc, Doflamingo tried to kill Moria, as he had received orders from higher-ups to do so.
Gecko Moria turned down Blackbeard's proposal, after which he was imprisoned by the Yonko. Perona traveled to Hachinosu to free Moria, but it's unclear if she was successful. If her mission was a success, it means that Gecko Moria is free, and he is likely in the New World.
Moria has lost Absalom, but he wouldn't want to lose Perona either. It's too late for him to build a new crew, so it's better to join one instead. The best option for Moria would be to take Perona and join the Cross Guild. The organization is already in the race for the One Piece, but they cannot get closer unless they have someone who can decipher the writings, which is why Gecko Moria's addition will solve the problem. Furthermore, it will be fun to see another former Shichibukai joining the organization and going against the World Government.
Who Else Will Join The Cross Guild?
The Cross Guild is led by Crocodile and Mihawk, who are two of the strongest characters in One Piece. Aside from being powerful, they're also rather clever, and they will be open to new members like Gecko Moria. However, Moria isn't the person who will join the Cross Guild, as there are others who will benefit from siding with the organization.
Boa Hancock would be a great addition to the Cross Guild. She doesn't have to work under them, but she can ally with the organization for her own benefit. Boa Hancock has an outrageously strong Devil Fruit, with which she can petrify anyone. Her power isn't limited to just humans. In fact, she can use it against non-living beings such as the Pacifista.
Aside from Boa Hancock, Doflamingo is another person who would benefit from joining the Cross Guild. He is still locked inside in Impel Down, but there is a chance that he will break free. Doflamingo is not loyal to anyone, but he hates the Celestial Dragons and the World Government. Additionally, he wanted to work with Crocodile, so joining the Cross Guild could be tempting for him.
