The God’s Knights are the guardians of the Holy Land Mary Geoise. Their main purpose is to oversee the World Nobles, to protect them, and to punish those who dare to break the rules. They sit above the Marines and the World Government and report directly to the Five Elders, or in certain cases, to the Great Imu herself.
One Piece: Every Race Depicted In The Elbaf Ancient Mural
From the Longarm Tribe to the Ancient Giants, here are some of the races depicted in the Ancient Mural of Elbaf in One Piece.
To do their job properly, every member of the God’s Knights possesses certain powers and abilities. Each member has unique powers, but some abilities are universal. Think of them like the Holy Land version of CP9. Based on what fans have seen so far in the story, here are some of the God’s Knights’ unique powers and abilities, ranked based on how useful it is in combat.
7 World Nobles Authority
They Stand Above The Law
- Name: Figarland Garling
- First Appearance: Episode 1120
Although the God's Knights are tasked with overseeing the World Nobles and the Holy Land, they are actually members of the nobility class as well. This means they have all of the privileges that come with being a World Noble, such as owning slaves and punishing every low-born who dares to stand in their way.
The two most important and useful privileges that the God’s Knights often enjoy and use during their missions, however, are the fact that they stand above the law and the ability to summon the Marines whenever, wherever they want. The former means they can do whatever they want without having to think about the repercussions, while the latter means they will always have the full might of the Marines at their disposal.
6 Martial Arts
Swordsmanship & Hand-to-Hand Combat
- Name: Figarland Shamrock
- First Appearance: Episode 887
Just like CP9, the God’s Knights are also trained in martial arts. However, there’s a difference in the level of proficiency between each member. For example, Gunko and Shamrock are bona fide martial artists, while Killingham and Sommers prefer to utilize their devil powers more than fighting the opponent directly.
Not only that, even between members who are proficient in martial arts, each member has different preferences in the type of martial arts that they pursue. Gunko, for example, likes hand-to-hand combat, while Shamrock prefers swordsmanship instead. Make no mistake, every single one of them can knock down your average pirate with ease.
5 Teleportation Magic
Long-Range Teleportation Magic
- Name: Gunko
- First Appearance: Chapter 1134
Every member of the God’s Knights is bestowed certain abilities by the great Imu herself. One of those abilities is long-range teleportation magic. According to Gunko and Killingham, this magic allows those who have been personally marked by Imu to traverse through the Abyss.
One Piece: 7 Strongest Non-Human Pirates, Ranked
These pirate crews don't have a human among them, yet they manage to stand out in a field largely dominated by humans in One Piece.
There’s no explanation about the true nature of the abyss yet, but it’s likely a separate dimension that can only be accessed by Imu. To activate the teleportation, a knight must draw a magic circle on the ground and link it to a specific location or person. A corresponding circle then appears at the target’s location, instantly teleporting them between the two points.
4 Devil Fruit
The Power To Bend The Law Of Physics
- Name: Rimoshifu Killingham
- First Appearance: Chapter 1140
Just like Pirates and Marines across the vast ocean, Devil Fruit powers are also the main source of firepower for the God’s Knights. Some members haven’t showcased their devil fruit powers yet, but it’s safe to assume that everybody has one.
The three Devil Fruit Powers that have been shown so far are Gunko’s Arrow-Arrow Fruit, Sommers’ Thorn-Thorn Fruit, and Killingham’s Dragon-Dragon Fruit, Model: Kirin. Gunko’s power allows her to generate arrow-like fabric that can be used to attack the enemy directly or redirect their attacks. Sommers’ power allows him to create and manipulate vines covered in sharp thorns. Killingham’s power enables him to turn dreams into tangible objects.
3 Immortality
They Just Can’t Die
- Name: Five Elders
- First Appearance: Episode 151
Truth be told, when the God’s Knights were properly introduced on the island of Elbaf, they were not that scary. Compared to a colossal dragon the size of a city or a man who can cause a massive earthquake with a single punch, a vector girl and a thorn guy are simply not that terrifying as an enemy.
But the moment our heroes found out that the knights can’t die, everything changed. It doesn't matter what sort of attacks are thrown at these knights, they will get up as if nothing happened at all. This makes the God’s Knights an incredibly tricky enemy to deal with, and quite creepy as well. By the way, this immortality is yet another gift from Imu to her loyal knights.
2 Hyper Regeneration
Regrowing Limbs & Instantly Healing Injuries
- Name: Shepherd Sommers
- First Appearance: Chapter 1140
As if immortality weren’t overpowered enough, every God’s Knight also has hyper-regeneration. This means their body can instantly heal from any injury, and they can regrow missing limbs as well. Needless to say, this convenient ability is also a gift from Imu. That being said, recent chapters have shown that this ability isn't all-powerful.
One Piece: 7 Reasons Why the God’s Knights Come to Elbaf
In One Piece, there are several reasons behind the God's Knights' arrival on Elbaf.
Scopper Gaban, the left-hand man of the Pirate King, manages to cut Sommers’ hand and prevent it from growing back. It’s not clear how Gaban achieves such a feat, but it proves that there’s a method to bypass the God’s Knights’ hyper regeneration. It’s a great sign, but it doesn’t change the fact that Gaban is still the only one who can use this technique at the moment. So unless the Straw Hats and the giants learn that method soon, hurting Sommers and the other God's Knights will be impossible.
1 Direct Connection To Imu
Channeling The Higher Being
- Name: Imu
- First Appearance: Episode 885
As mentioned several times on this list, many of the God’s Knights' abilities come directly from the great Imu herself. Most people initially speculate that these abilities are either something that the knights learned from Imu herself, such as CP9’s Rokushiki techniques, or something that Imu gave to her knights, such as that time when Blackbeard stole Absalom’s Clear-Clear Fruit and gave it to Shiryu of the Rain.
Recent chapters, specifically Chapter 1150, show that there’s something more to these gifts. It seems that by bestowing these abilities, Imu makes an unbreakable connection to her subjects. This means the God’s Knights are directly channeling a part of Imu’s power every time they use these unique abilities. It’s safe to assume that they can exert an even greater power if Imu allows them to.
But rather worryingly, as seen in the same chapter, this also means Imu can control and even take over the body of her knights and cause as much damage and destruction without having to leave her lair. This makes fighting against the God’s Knights even more dangerous and unpredictable.
