This article contains spoilers for the One Piece Series.
Haki is king in the One Piece series. It is a power that allows one to use their spirit as armor for defense, or even for offensive purposes, and it can be used as a sixth sense. Despite that, the majority of Luffy’s crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, can’t even use basic forms of it. This is definitely a concern, especially as the story has entered the Final Saga, and enemies are only getting stronger. Nevertheless, a few members of the Straw Hat Pirates know how to use it, and each of them has their own specialty when it comes down to using Haki, with some, like Luffy, having a mastery of all forms.
One Piece: 5 Rocks Pirates Members Who Became Yonko Level
The Rocks pirates were strong, but not all their members were equal. Some of the members are Yonko-level in One Piece.
Usopp
- Speciality: Observation Haki
- Haki: Observation Haki
Usopp has yet to fully unlock his haki potential, but during the Dressrosa arc, he has shown that he can, in fact use Haki. In his case, he can only utilize one kind, to be specific, and that is Observation Haki.
Usopp will, by the end of One Piece, master Observation Haki, at the very least. This type of Haki is definitely his specialization, even though it has not been explicitly stated. After all, Usopp is a sniper, and no other type of Haki could be as useful to him as Observation Haki. Once he gets this down, he will be able to hit almost any target in his reach, and this would make him one of the greatest snipers of One Piece.
Jinbe
- Speciality: Armament Haki
- Haki: Armament Haki, Observation Haki
Jinbe is one of the few Straw Hat Pirates who can use Haki. Jinbe can use both standard types of Haki, that is, Color of Observation, and Color of Arms Haki.
When it comes to specialty, fans won’t be too surprised to find out that he leans more into Armament than Observation. After all, Armament is what fans see him using more often. He uses Armament Haki skillfully with his Fishman Karate.
Sanji
- Speciality: Observation Haki
- Haki: Armament Haki, Observation Haki
Sanji is one of the Monster Trio, and was one of the first Straw Hat Pirates to unlock Haki, something he achieved during the two-year timeskip. Sanji can, so far, use Armament Haki, and Observation Haki. However, Oda has pretty much confirmed he will be unlocking Conqueror’s too, as seen with his parallels with Scopper Gaban.
One Piece: 7 Greatest Living Legends In The Current Era
Old, but powerful legends are still living and thriving in One Piece, such as Gaban, Rayleigh, and these other characters.
Nevertheless, when it comes to Sanji’s specialization, he excels in Observation Haki. Sanji can detect individuals from a distance, and has shown great skill at dodging attacks, all thanks to his Observation Haki. Eventually, he should also be able to learn skills like Future Sight.
Roronoa Zoro
- Speciality: Armament Haki
- Haki: Conqueror’s Haki, Armament Haki, Observation Haki
Roronoa Zoro is one of the top fighters of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of Luffy’s wings. Zoro has had, since the timeskip, both Armament and Observation Haki. And recently, during the Wano arc, he even finally unlocked Conqueror’s Haki, thanks to Enma. However, he has yet to learn to control it.
While Zoro can use all three Haki types, his specialization is, of course, Armament haki. But he still has a way to go, even in that department. Eventually, he should be able to even blacken his swords with it.
Monkey D. Luffy
- Speciality: Conqueror’s Haki
- Haki: Conqueror’s Haki, Armament Haki, Observation Haki
The strongest of the Straw Hat Pirates is their captain, Monkey D. Luffy. Luffy is also the greatest when it comes to Haki in his crew. Luffy unlocked Conqueror’s Haki before One Piece’s timeskip, and then learnt Observation and Armament Haki with Rayleigh during the two-year timeskip.
Luffy is great at using all Haki types. But his specialization, as confirmed by Eiichiro Oda, is actually Conqueror's, something that makes sense for his character. Luffy still has a lot of room to grow, however, as his Conqueror’s Haki has to not just reach, but surpass the level of characters like Joy Boy or Shanks.
