This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf Arc.
One Piece is currently in the Elbaf arc, and fans are absolutely loving what Oda's been putting out on a weekly basis so far. It goes without saying that Elbaf has been one of One Piece's very best arcs so far, and given what's to come in the latter half of the arc, it certainly has the potential to be an absolute top-tier One Piece arc. Of course, the protagonist of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy, is at the center of things in the Elbaf arc. Fans know very well that Luffy will have a massive role to play in the arc, especially in the fights against the likes of Holy Knights, and now, the ultimate antagonist of the arc, Saint Imu Nerona, who has taken over Gunko's body.
One Piece: Oda Has Already Revealed The First Devil Fruit To Exist
Devil Fruits didn't always exist in One Piece, and Oda has revealed the first one to be created.
That said, b eating Saint Imu isn't going to be easy. Fans know very well that this gargantuan task will require Luffy to get even stronger, and Oda has already lined up the perfect power-up for him in Elbaf. Luffy will upgrade his Conqueror's Haki greatly in the Warland, and it is here that he will officially become one of the strongest characters of the current era.
Luffy's New Power Up Is The Immorality Bypassing Haki
Luffy Has Yet To Learn To Damage Immortals
- Luffy has all three Haki types
- Gaban taught Luffy how to injure immortals
Ever since Wano, fans have been wondering what Luffy will gain next in terms of power-ups. Wano was absolutely massive for him, and in a way, completed him as a fighter. Luffy managed to learn how to use advanced Conqueror's Haki, and on top of that, he also aw akened his Devil Fruit, giving him access to Gear 5. With all three advanced Haki types and an awkward Devil Fruit, it almost felt as if Luffy had peaked as a fighter.
Listen, Straw Hat Luffy. Etch in your mind how you use your Haki against them. These guys aren't immortal. — Scopper Gaban
One Piece: Oda Officially Reveals A New Villain Even Stronger Than Akainu
Akainu is strong, but he is outshaded by this new Final Saga One Piece villain.
But, that couldn't be further from the truth. Egghead introduced the fans to the threat of the Five Elders and it was clear to see that they were unbeatable for Luffy, at least in his current state. That's why Elbaf is going to give him a significant power-up and it'll come in the form of Conqueror's Haki.
As is quite clear, Luffy has yet to permanently injure the immortals of the One Piece world, which includes the likes of Imu, the Gorosei, and the Holy Knights. But, Scopper Gaban already showed the trick to defeating them. According to Gaban, t he key to beating the immortals lies in advanced Conqueror's Haki. It is only with this power that one can bypass immortality. Even then, one needs to be very specific about how they use their Conqueror's Haki to bypass Immortality. Luffy will have to upgrade his Conqueror's Haki to be able to bypass Immortality, and this power-up is exactly what will make him all the more dangerous.
It's no use! They keep coming back. We can't defeat them. Let's get out of here. — Luffy in Egghead
What It Means For Luffy's Overall Power Level
Luffy Will Reach Shanks's Level
Right now, Luffy is already Yonko-level in One Piece, and that's quite clear. However, he needs to get even stronger. Shanks, for example, looks to be even stronger, and fans know already they Blackbeard is aiming to reach a level even higher. To compete with these monsters and to beat Imu, Luffy has to be even stronger, and that's exactly why Elbaf is as important as it is in One Piece.
Luffy's upcoming power-up of Conqueror's Haki will be absolutely massive, as it will finally put him next to Shanks in terms of strength. Then, fans will likely also see Luffy surpassing Shanks in the Final Saga, possibly after the events of the Elbaf arc.
