This spin-off series was announced a while back, but more content related to it has just dropped, which includes character designs. This spin-off is One Piece Heroines — a series that will focus on One Piece’s female cast, based on some novels. The release date for this anime has yet to be revealed, but fans are hyped nevertheless.

Due to the incredible popularity of the series, One Piece is getting so many new projects that it can be hard to keep up, even for dedicated fans. The series has already received announcements for a new anime remake, a live-action, and now, even a spin-off series.

The latest spin-off series that fans are excited about is called One Piece Heroines. As the name implies, One Piece Heroines will focus only on the female cast of One Piece, something many believe was long overdue.

This spin-off anime is based on a novel of the same title, One Piece: Heroines. This novel, however, wasn’t written by the original One Piece creator, Eiichiro Oda. Instead, it’s from Jun Esaka and is illustrated by Sayaka Suwa.

One Piece Heroines will cover side stories of many popular One Piece female characters. These include the two main girls, Nami and Robin, but the novel isn’t limited to them. The novels also feature Vivi, Perona, Hancock, Tashigi, Reiju, and Uta. It’s unclear if the anime will cover the stories of all of these girls, but either way, it’s going to be fun, especially as a completely new art direction is featured, based on character designs from the legendary Takashi Kojima.

Indeed, fans were wondering if the designs would stay faithful to Oda’s art style, but that isn’t the case. The designs of the Straw Hat girls have been revealed, and the novel's art style is being followed instead.

Fans can have a look at Nami’s design by Takashi Kojima, based on the illustrations of Sayaka Suwa.

Robin’s design has also been revealed, and it’s definitely a fresh take on her, making it a big departure from how Oda usually draws her.

Fans hope more designs are revealed soon, especially for fan favorite characters like Vivi and Boa Hancock.
