Ever since the events of Wano, it was revealed that the Devil Fruit they had come to know as the Gomu Gomu no Mi from the very first chapter of One Piece was, in truth, a Mythical Zoan type called the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. After Luffy transformed into the Sun God of legend, fans began to believe that there have been many similar 'God Fruits' introduced into the series.
The term God Fruit is a fan-made one that seeks to categorize the most powerful Devil Fruits in One Piece. Of course, the common consensus is that these are all Mythical Zoan types, but the Harley Texts on Elbaf have revealed the identities of a few Gods of the One Piece universe, and these align with previously established Logia and Paramecia powers. So, let's take a look at how God Fruits may fall under these categories.
One Piece: Blackbeard's Crew Will Be Even Stronger Than The Rocks Pirates, And Here's Why
The Blackbeard Pirates are the modern-day version of the Rocks Pirates, but here's why they're destined to be even stronger than this legendary crew!
The Strongest Logia And Paramecia Types Are Considered God Fruits
The Greatest Power In Each Category
- Many believe that God Fruits can also be Logia and Paramecia types.
As stated previously, the term 'God Fruit' isn't one that is official, as fans have taken to categorizing certain fruits as such. Even then, there is only one that is confirmed to fall into this category, two that are likely part of it, and a few others that are entirely speculated upon. The term arose when Luffy first awoke Gear 5, which took the appearance of the Sun God Nika.
Because of this, some eagle-eyed viewers combed through hundreds of chapters back to the Skypiea arc, where the first mention of a Sun God was even made. What flew over the heads of many people initially eventually proved to be one of the most important pieces of lore for the One Piece world, which is why the mention of the Rain God, Earth God, and Forest God alongside the Sun God in the Skypiea flashback has led many to believe that there are other Devil Fruits in the world whose awakening can unlock their true strength as well.
God of the Sun... God of the Rain... God of the Forest... God of the Earth...
This may have been corroborated in Chapter 1138 with the introduction of the ancient Harley Texts on Elbaf, which spoke of all of these Gods once again. Within the context of Luffy's Nika fruit, the common consensus is that the rest operate the same way and are hidden under different names. This brings forth the main topic, which states that these God Fruits don't necessarily have to be Mythical Zoan types, and can even just be Logias or Paramecias, seeing as how some of the strongest fruits in One Piece belong to these categories.
For starters, the Harley Texts and Skypiea flashback both speak of an Earth God, which is, presumably, someone who has powers related to the Earth itself. A common idea is that this God Fruit is the Gura Gura no Mi, previously used by Whitebeard and currently in the possession of Blackbeard. This is the most offensively powerful Devil Fruit in One Piece, capable of creating tremors that can destroy the whole world if the user chooses. Due to it being synonymous with the destruction of the world, many believe that it could be the Earth God Fruit.
Other than this, there is the Rain God Fruit, which is only mentioned in the Skypiea flashback, which most believe is in the possession of Monkey D. Dragon. Dragon's Devil Fruit powers have been a topic of much debate from the beginning, with the prevailing theory being that it may be a Wind Logia that allows him to control the weather. This works perfectly with all the showings of Dragon's power, so this could be the Logia Rain God Fruit.
Moreover, a notable mention present in both Skypiea and the Harley Texts is the Forest God, which the latter describes as sending forth demons. While many initially believed this to be some version of Greenbull's Nature Logia, the subsequent appearance of Imu on Elbaf may have just confirmed their power as the Forest God Devil Fruit, since they literally sent forth demons. This is all conjecture at this point, but it just goes to show that the possibility of God Fruits potentially being Logias and Paramecias as well is quite high.
One Piece: Do Any Villains Have God Fruits?
God Fruits are a relatively new concept in One Piece, with only one confirmed so far, but many think some villains could have these too!

The final, and most notable, of the Gods mentioned in the Harley Text was the Sea God. Currently, it's a complete mystery as to what it could mean, as fans are divided about whether this is another term for Poseidon or simply being a stand-in term for the sea itself, as it has been personified before in the series, such as when it was defined as rejecting Devil Fruits.
However, a counter theory is that the Sea God Devil Fruit actually exists, and it may just be a Logia type that allows the user to control the ocean itself, since water seems to be the only natural element missing from the Logia category. If this ends up being true, the user of this power would end up being the most powerful character in all of One Piece, particularly because the Sea itself is the biggest weakness of Devil Fruit users across the board.
