This article contains spoilers for One Piece's Elbaf Arc.

When it comes to the best One Piece arcs, fans know very well that Marineford is always going to be high up on most fans’ lists. After all, this is a special arc that just about every fan of One Piece loves wholeheartedly, despite its tragic ending. That said, Marineford is just one of the many top-tier arcs that Oda has written over the years. Both before and after Marineford, Oda has written some of the best story arcs. In fact, Oda himself believes that one particular arc in the Post-Timeksip of One Piece is going to be the best, and obviously, it isn't Marineford.

Marineford Is Regarded As One Piece's Best Arc

  • It Made One Piece The Highest Selling Manga

Most One Piece fans regard Marineford as the peak of the series, or, at the very least, one of the many peaks of the series. This arc marked the climax of the first part of One Piece, and it showcased what can be considered to be one of the biggest wars ever. The capture of Portgas D. Ace set the stage for the Marineford arc in a brilliant manner.

Don't let your guard down! It may well be that we're the ones meeting our end today. — Sengoku to the Marines in Marineford

Whitebeard arrives at Marineford to save Ace.

The Marines and the Shichibukai clashed with the Whitebeard Pirates, with Luffy and some other Impel Down escapees being thrown into the mix as well. The cathartic twists and turns in this arc, coupled with incredibly high tension, made it one of One Piece's best arcs. That said, Oda never expected this arc to be as popular as it was. Here's what Oda had to say about Marineford:

One thing that motivates me to keep drawing One Piece is that I want to draw the final saga. The final saga will be so amazing that it makes the Marineford arc look like nothing. Marineford arc was just a side trip to me. I didn't expect it to be so popular. — Eiichiro Oda, 2012

While the Marineford arc of One Piece is, undoubtedly, amazing, it isn't going to be anywhere close to the Final arc, which will most definitely showcase what can be considered to be the Great War of the One Piece world. In fact, Oda has already highlighted that he aims for One Piece to end on the highest note ever, which means the more Oda progresses through the Final Saga, the better the story will get, and of course, the Great War between the Celestial Dragons and their allies and the pirates will be the peak of the story.

When I was a kid, I thought to myself: man I would love to draw a manga with the most hyped final stage! I wonder if I'm up to it! Now, we have only a tiny bit of the Wano arc left, and the preparations are almost done. Took me 25 years lol. That said, it's fine if you start reading from this point on. Because from this point on...it'll be... The ONE PIECE!! The mysteries of this world, I'll be drawing all of them! It'll be super interesting! Fasten your seatbelt! And please stay with me for a bit longer! — Eiichiro Oda, Author of One Piece, 2022

The War Is Already Set Up

With Elbaf, Oda has already marked the prelude to the war, and it is only a matter of time before it begins. Gunko confirmed in Elbaf that the Great War is coming, while Vegapunk confirmed in the Egghead arc that the war that started in the Void Century has never truly been settled. A lot of exciting content is on the way for One Piece fans as the best arc of the story approaches. For now, all fans can do is sit tightly and enjoy the journey that is Elbaf.
