In the One Piece franchise, history is not what it seems to be at first glance. This is because the ruling organization of the world, the World Government, has outlawed any research into the past so that people never find out about the truth of things, since that is enough to completely turn over the order that Imu and the Celestial Dragons have been benefitting from for the past 800 years.
As such, one of the most significant events in One Piece's history has been lost to time; the legendary God Valley Incident. Although the truth of this is still murky, it's known that a Native Hunting Competition was held on this island 38 years before the start of the story and included all the major players of the world at the time. Fans have always been speculating about what may have transpired there, and Chapter 1159 promises to finally show it.

- Chapter 1158 lays the groundwork for the God Valley Incident.
Chapter 1158 of the manga was one of the best in the entire Elbaf arc due to the incredible reveals that were made here. The most important of these was the fact that, on a routine mission, the Gods' Knights just happened to come upon God Valley, where they made note of something incredible. In his meeting with the Gorosei, Garling stated to them that this was the first time they had ever visited this island.
However, what they found here was apparently enough to interest even Imu. This is quite a monumental reveal, since Imu only concerns themselves with the most important things, given their position in the World Government. Because of this, many have begun to speculate that there may be an Ancient Weapon hidden on God Valley or something just as important, which may be why Garling urged the next Native Hunting Competition to be held there.

There are very few things in the entire One Piece series that have been as hyped up and as mired in mystery as the God Valley Incident. As for the broad strokes of it that have been cemented for years, it's known that the Celestial Dragons had stolen the treasure of Pirate Island, prompting the Rocks Pirates to pursue them to God Valley, where the Roger Pirates and the Marine contingent led by Garp were also present.
However, the flashback in the Elbaf arc revealed a ton more information. For one, Shakky retired as the Empress of Amazon Lily/Kuja Pirates and made her way to Hachinosu, where she opened her bar. This bar was such a massive hit among the pirates of the world that it became a permanent feature of the island, and Shakky herself became known as the 'Crown Jewel of Hachinosu'. This strongly implies that the Celestial Dragons may have kidnapped her from there to be sold off into slavery or kept as one of the prizes of the competition.

As dark as it is, it checks out with the kind of horrible people that the Celestial Dragons are. This may have purposefully been done in order to bait Rocks and his crew to God Valley as a collective measure to wipe them all from the world. Plus, seeing how Roger was head-over-heels for Shakky in his youth, he may have also departed for God Valley to save her rather than for vengeance against Rocks, which, in turn, also prompted Garp to head to this island as well. This way, everything that fans already knew about this event seems to add up.
Another massive reveal in Chapter 1158 was the falling out between Rocks and Harald, the latter of whom was commanded by the World Government to eliminate his friend so that Elbaf could be made a member nation. Although they fought equally, neither won the bout, and it was explained at the end of the chapter that the next time these two met again was on the day of the God Valley Incident.
This throws a major wrench into the works as it reveals that Harald was also present on God Valley, marking this as arguably the most important event in the series after the Void Century itself. Two possibilities can come from this: 1) that Harald also stood as an enemy to Rocks on God Valley, or 2) Harald ended up renouncing the World Government's summons out of loyalty to his friend, and teamed up with him in order to stand against the forces looking to destroy the Rocks Pirates.
The latter seems to be more likely, since it offers a far better explanation of how Rocks managed to take on both Roger and Garp at the same time, especially considering that Garling may have also been on their side due to their aligned interests, and even explains why Elbaf still isn't a member nation to this day. Rocks and Harald fighting against Roger, Garp, and Garling wouldn't only make for the greatest battle in the history of One Piece, but it would also explain many unanswered questions about all of these characters and the mysterious conclusion of the God Valley Incident as well.
