This flashback is only 2 chapters in, and it has already shocked all the fans with major reveals. In One Piece chapter 1154, Oda has officially revealed exciting information about the connection between Rocks D. Xebec and Blackbeard, and fans are truly stunned.

Blackbeard Paid Tribute To Rocks D. Xebec

  • Blackbeard’s Ship Is Called The Saber Of Xebec
  • Blackbeard Took Over The Pirate Island

There was always a very apparent connection between Rocks D. Xebec and Blackbeard. This was first hinted at when Oda revealed the name of Blackbeard's main ship. To the surprise of all fans, Blackbeard's ship was named the Saber of Xebec. This clearly meant that Blackbeard was trying to pay tribute to this figure, but fans wondered why that was the case.

Another solid connection formed when it was revealed that Blackbeard was in control of the Pirate Island in the New World. Before him, Wang Zhi controlled the island, who was a member of the Rocks Pirates, but before him, it was Rocks’s main territory. Blackbeard taking over this land felt symbolic.

Finally, Blackbeard was revealed in Egghead to have the goal of taking over the world. This is the same goal that Sengoku said Rocks had. He wanted to be King of the World.

Rocks D. Xebec Is Blackbeard's Father

One Piece Chapter 1154 Confirms Blackbeard And Xebec's Connection

This certainly does put into question how Blackbeard was raised, however. So far, fans only know that Blackbeard was from a Winter Island, known as Shade Port in the Grand Line, and for some reason, he doesn't sleep. Maybe that holds true for Rocks as well. Whether he was abandoned by Rocks, or if he was taken away somehow remains to be seen.

Blackbeard Is Xebec's Second Coming

One Piece chapter 1154 turned out to be pretty massive, and more than anything, it confirmed to the fans that Blackbeard is Rocks's second coming. Rocks D. Xebec might be dead, but Blackbeard is alive and well, and he carries Rocks's legacy. He is going to create a storm in the current era, both for the World Government and for the rival pirates. Just like Rocks, he will aim for a complete takeover of the world, and that's where the real fun begins.

One Piece Chapter 1155 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on July 20. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1155 is July 20, 2025.
