In One Piece chapter 1158, Oda finally decided to turn his attention towards the country of God Valley, and with it also brought the child of destiny, Shanks, into the spotlight. It appears that One Piece will now dive deep into the past of Red-haired Shanks and his twin brother, Shamrock. Fans already knew that they were both Celestial Dragons, but One Piece chapter 1158 went on to confirm that both Shanks and Shamrock are technically half-Celestial Dragons, and that their mother is most certainly from God Valley.

Shanks is a character that all One Piece fans are well familiar with. He's one of the most important characters in One Piece, even though he rarely appears in the story. Shanks's past remained a mystery for quite a long time, but in the Final Saga, Oda went on to confirm to the fans that Shanks is actually the son of a Celestial Dragon.

He's my younger brother. At one point, he did return to Marijoa, but it seems he's grown accustomed to the sea down below. — Shamrock about Shanks

If that wasn't enough, Oda also went on to reveal that Shanks has a twin brother, and that his brother is a member of the Holy Knights. Clearly, there is a lot to unpack about Shanks already, and One Piece is diving deep into his story, slowly, with the Loki flashback giving the fans quite a great deal of information about the Red-haired Yonko.

In One Piece chapter 1158, it was revealed to the fans that Shanks was actually not born in Marijoa, but in God Valley. Garling Figarland was on a mission in God Valley, when he suddenly came across something unbelievable. What exactly that was remains unknown. But, there, Garling had children with a Red-haired woman, who was most certainly a regular human. This goes to confirm that Shanks and Shamrock are only half-Celestial Dragons, and that they weren't born in the Holy Land.

They're named Shanks and Shamrock. — The Mother

Shanks has long abandoned his Celestial Dragon lineage. After all, fans know very well that he's a pirate who sails the seas as one of the Yonko, actively working against the Government. But, Shanks was once a member of the Holy Knights, or so Oda would like the fans to believe. After having left Marijoa, he started his own crew, and once he did, he created the Red Hair Pirates. Shanks's crew was a tribute to his mother, who had red hair.

Shanks's very own moniker is Red Hair, which is also tied directly to his mother. His crew is the Red Hair Pirates, which once again goes to show that Shanks had a profound love for her. In the end, Shanks's full relationship with his mother remains unknown but fans can rest assured that it'll be extremely important, and that his lineage will come into play in the Final Saga once again.
