One Piece Volume 113 dropped recently, and with it came a new SBS section from Eiichiro Oda, the author of the story. For those who don't know, Oda does a SBS corner at the end of each manga volume, where he answers various fan questions. A lot of the time, these questions are lighthearted, but sometimes, Oda reveals absolutely major pieces of information to the fans here.

Eiichiro Oda Confirms Two Pirates Imu Fears The Most In One Piece
Imu is strong, but they have a major fear. These two pirates are Imu's worst nightmare in One Piece.
Recently, in One Piece’s SBS volume 113, Oda talked about Jewelry Bonney in great detail, and he stated quite clearly that Bonney feels safe with the Straw Hat Pirates. Oda also confirmed that Bonney enjoys traveling with the Straw Hat Pirates, and at the same time, implied that she could continue to sail with the crew, which also means that Bonney could be the official 10th Straw Hat under Luffy.
Q: Bonney is only 12 years old, yet she keeps the appearance of someone in her 20s. Will she stay as a 12-year-old from now on?
Oda: Out at sea, no one would take a child captain seriously, and looking older was also convenient for her journey to find her father. But now that she's on board the Sunny which is now on elbaph, she seems to feel safe enough to remain as a child. Please keep an eye on her from here on out!

According to Oda himself, Bonney prefers to take her true form when she's safe, and she has only felt safe so far with the Straw Hat Pirates. Oda specifically mentioned Bonney being with the crew in the SBS, which definitely raises her chances of being the last Straw Hat Pirate.
There are two major possibilities for Bonney. The first one is that she could simply continue sailing with the Straw Hat Pirates. The second is that she stays behind in Elbaf with Vegapunk. Given that Loki is also being built up to be a potential Straw Hat, and Vivi is in the equation as well, it'll be interesting to see who Oda picks for the position of the last Straw Hat. In either case, it'll all be clear at the end of Elbaf.
One Piece Chapter 1165 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on November 9. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1165 is November 9, 2025.
