One Piece fans have eagerly been waiting for more information on Luffy's Mother from Oda, but every year, they're left with more questions than answers. However, this year is starkly different in that regard.
One Piece: Oda Finally Confirms How Shanks And Shamrock Were Separated

Despite not focusing on the background of Monkey D. Luffy, it seems that Oda has revealed a prime candidate for Luffy's mother, and this person is currently playing a big role in the plot of the Loki flashback. After making fans wait for decades, Oda has finally provided the fans with something to grasp when it comes to Luffy's mother.

Naturally, Oda has been thinking about Luffy's mother. This doesn't come as a surprise to any One Piece fan. After all, Oda has deeply integrated Dragon into the story, who is Luffy's father, as well as Garp, who is his grandfather. Even members of the Straw Hats, like Sanji and Zoro, have had their mothers revealed already.

Clearly, Oda has been preparing for Luffy's mother as well, but it is also quite evident that up until recently, Oda was still thinking about what to do with her, or even how or where to introduce her in the story. Over a decade ago, Oda was asked about Luffy's mother, and this is what he had to say:
Q: What was Luffy's mother like? Was she beautiful? What happened to her? Did she die when Luffy was a baby?
Oda: I think she's alive. I'm still thinking hard about this.
Clearly, Oda hadn't thought much of it at the time, and was crafting a story around her. Eventually, he will have to focus on Dragon and the Revolutionary Army, and when that happens, Oda will, inevitably, have to reveal Luffy's mom.

While Oda hasn't explicitly shown Luffy's mother to the fans, many readers believe that they have the answer already. In the recent One Piece chapters, Toritoma, who is the Empress of Amazon Lily before Boa Hancock, was shown to the fans, and his resemblance to Luffy is shocking. To be clear, fans saw Toritoma during the Loki flashback. Around 44 years ago, she was with the Kuja Pirates, but only as a kid. She was seen carrying the letters of Gloriosa and Shakky.

One Piece: Oda Has Already Revealed The Strongest Pirate In The Final Saga
The strongest pirate in the Final Saga has been revealed, and it isn't Luffy from One Piece.
As a kid, Toritoma looks shockingly similar to Luffy, and many fans have noticed this across multiple panels. More than that, there is also the fact that her age with Dragon matches up. Toritoma looks like a kid during the flashback, not older than 14-15. Meanwhile, 44 years ago, Dragon was around 11 years of age, which adds up. Most of all, every Kuja Empress has had a massive role to play in the story, and Toritoma is the only one without one at the moment.
Toritoma Is Already Dead
Unfortunately, Toritoma is already dead, as Oda revealed, given that she died of Love Sickness. But, this could easily be because Dragon had to leave because of the Revolutionary Army, or even worse, because Luffy was hidden in the Goa Kingdom for his own safety, away from her.
