This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
The Rocks Pirates are one of the greatest, if not the greatest, pirate crews in One Piece. Formed by Rocks D. Xebec, the crew's rise to infamy was almost instant. Under the guidance of their captain, the Rocks Pirates became feared around the world. However, the crew's adventures came to an end after the God Valley Incident. The Rocks Pirates were defeated, but it's unclear how it happened.
Eiichiro Oda's One Piece Just Got A New Spin-Off Anime Adaptation, And It Fixes One Big Issue With The Manga
A new One Piece Spinoff has been revealed, and it fixes a major issue with the manga.
Silver Axe Could Be The Traitor Among The Rocks Pirates
Silver Axe Has Some Similarities With A Couple Of Marines
In the latest One Piece chapter, Silver Axe made his first appearance. He has been mentioned by name several times before, but he didn't appear until the Elbaf arc. Like the other great pirates of the time, Silver Axe was entranced by the might of the Rocks Pirates, which is why he wanted to join them. On the surface, it seems perfectly normal, but there is a chance that Silver Axe only joined the crew because he wanted to bring them down.
I want to join the Rocks Pirates. —Silver Axe
Since the character has only appeared in a single chapter, it's hard to find evidence to ascertain his involvement in the defeat of the Rocks Pirates. However, there are two things that put him under suspicion, and those are his tattoo and the X-shaped mark on his chain. Silver Axe's tattoo is quite akin to Akainu's, which has led to fans drawing a connection between the two. A tattoo isn't enough to draw a connection, but knowing Oda, it shouldn't be overlooked.
The second thing that raises suspicion is Silver Axe's chin. The X-shaped mark is the same as the one on X-Drake's chin, leading to some fierce speculation about Silver Axe being his grandfather. If the two are connected, then it's easy to understand why Silver Axe could betray the Rocks Pirates. After all, X-Drake did something similar with Kaido and the Beasts Pirates. X-Drake was a Marine Rear Admiral, yet he became a Supernova to fool the world. He joined Kaido's crew and provided his fellow SWORD members with top-secret intel. If Silver Axe joined the Rocks Pirates with the same intention, then it would explain why the crew fell apart on God Valley.
The Rocks Pirates Would Have Ruled The World For Years
The Rocks Pirates Were Truly Dangerous
The Rocks Pirates were easily the most powerful crew of their era. Rocks was planning on going to the top, which meant toppling the World Government. He had already met Imu in the Chamber of Flowers and threatened to return in the future. It's quite apparent that Rocks wanted to eradicate Imu and his underlings, so the latter would have made arrangements to counter the pirate's threat.
When Rocks met Imu, he realized that it was impossible to take over the world alone, which is why the pirate began recruiting new members. Rocks D. Xebec participated in many Davy Black fights to find new crewmates. In a few years, he had gathered an impressive roster, which included the following:
- Whitebeard
- Shiki
- Silver Axe
- Captain John
- Big Mom
- Struesen
- Wang Zhi
- Buckingham Stussy
- Don Marlon
- Kaido
- Gloriosa
- Barbel
With so many powerful allies, Rocks would have absolutely no problems decimating his competition.
The God Valley Incident Affected The Future Of The World
The God Valley Incident was an unfortunate event that worked in the favor of the World Government. When the Rocks Pirates made landfall, the thought of being beaten would have never crossed their minds, since no crew was strong enough to compete with them. Unfortunately for them, the Roger Pirates banded with the Marines to take down the Rocks Pirates. Roger and Garp decided to set aside their differences as they considered Rocks a mutual enemy.
The exact details are currently unknown, but it has been confirmed that Rocks died in the God Valley Incident. When Oda finally discloses new information, fans will have a better idea of what exactly happened in God Valley. Hopefully, fans won't have to wait for long, as the flashback is currently going over Rocks' history.
