One Piece is heading towards a big war, which Oda himself spoke of many years ago. Of course, Luffy, the protagonist of the series, finds himself at the center of it all.

While Luffy usually goes on to topple all those who stand in his path, fans know very well that there will be stronger enemies for him to face, and that eventually, he might fall at some point. That's precisely what Oda seems to have set up in the story already, and it appears that things are only going to get more exciting from here onwards.

Fans might find themself confused at the idea of Luffy being captured, but the fact is that Oda has already set up an event surrounding Luffy's capture, and this was done during the Dressrosa arc of the series. Back then, Oda had Sabo make a Vivre Card for Luffy, and then, this card was distributed among a few allies of his. Even the Straw Hat Pirates have Luffy's Vivre Card.

To understand how this is going to come into play, one only needs to look at the Pre-Timeskip of One Piece, where Ace's Vivre Card, which was continuously burning, eventually led Luffy to the Marine HQ. A Vivre Card points towards the person it comes from, but more than that, it is the Paper of Life. It burns as the user's life force burns, and is, thus, a good signifier of life.
Luffy's Friends Will Have To Come To His Rescue
Sabo, Bellamy, The Grand Fleet, And Straw Hats Have Luffy's Vivre Card
To put it simply, the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, all of whom have Luffy's Vivre Card, will only mobilize when Luffy's card is burning. Similarly, Sabo will come to Luffy's aid when it burns, and if he's away from the Straw Hat Pirates, then they will all head to his rescue as well. Even Bellamy has Luffy's Vivre Card, which means Oda has set him up to join this part of the story as well. Fans could very well see a rescue arc akin to that of Marineford, only this time, Luffy won't be the one trying to save someone. He's the one they'll try to save, and that's what makes things very exciting for the future of One Piece.

Luffy Will Be Saved
Of course, Luffy, as the main character, cannot die. He will be saved by all his friends, and the Straw Hat Pirates are most certainly going to lead from the front. The war will be absolutely massive, with far-reaching consequences, but it is one that fans will come to love as not only will it mimic Marineford, it will be on a much bigger scale as well. Even though the idea of Luffy's capture doesn't seem particularly fun, it could give rise to One Piece's greatest arc.
