This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf Arc.

After years upon years of waiting, Oda has finally given the fans what they've been asking for all this time, and that's a proper look at the legends of the old era. Right now, the world of One Piece is experiencing a surge when it comes to piracy and there are more pirates on the seas than ever before. However, the previous generation of pirates and Marines certainly looked far more exciting, and fans have been waiting for Oda to show their capabilities to the fullest for the longest time now.

In One Piece chapter 1161, Oda officially gave the fans a proper look at the God Valley Incident, and it is here that the strongest of legends of the One Piece world assembled. From Rocks D. Xebec, who was a legend among legends, to Roger, Whitebeard, and Garp, Oda revealed all of them to the fans at God Valley. Curiously enough, Oda has also officially confirmed the one and only Marine to be above Yonko level in God Valley, and that's none other than Garp himself.

Garp Is Far Above The Average Yonko Level

Garp Was On the Level Of The Pirate King

  • Shanks can rival Garp too

The term Yonko level is quite vague now that the likes of Buggy have joined their ranks. But, the Yonko are the four most powerful pirates on the seas and they're usually the cream of the crop. Luffy's current power level is a good example of what a Yonko is supposed to be, but an even better example would be Kaido, whom Luffy defeated recently. Kaido was incredibly powerful and his strength was the perfect representation of what a Yonko should be. With immense Haki and terrific Devil Fruit powers, Kaido was an absolute monster. Yet, Oda has now officially confirmed that Garp even even above the level that Kaido showed in Wano.

Garp, even before hitting his prime, was a demon to pirates, so much so that Whitebeard, Linlin, and Kaido together believed that it wouldn't be easy to beat him. Instead, they chose to run from him. Of course, all three of them were not in their primes back then and had a job to do, but at the same time, it goes to show that Garp was portrayed to be a demon even to them. The only one who was able to stop Garp was Roger, and fans know very well that Roger is above the level of the average Yonko, such as Kaido and Big Mom, which pushes Garp above Yonko level too.

Most One Piece fans would agree that Garp and Whitebeard are on the same level of power. In fact, Oda himself has established this as canon in the story. Garp is strong enough to rival Roger, and Whitebeard is the only pirate ever to tie battles with Roger. They're all on the same level. Yet, Whitebeard chose to avoid a fight against Garp and that goes to show the level of respect he gave to the legendary Marine. Hopefully, Oda will show more of Garp and his power in the future of One Piece.
