This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf arc.

Summary

  • Nami could potentially get a powerful Devil Fruit, like the Goro Goro no Mi
  • Fans speculate Oda might give Nami this ability, based on his drawings
  • While getting the Goro Goro no Mi is unlikely, Nami needs a power-up for upcoming threats

Nami is one of the Straw Hats who could really make use of a new power-up. The navigator, Nami is definitely a fan-favorite character in the One Piece series and fans want to see her get stronger, which is why many fans want Eiichiro Oda to give her this powerful Devil Fruit ability, especially as he keeps drawing her using it. But, is it actually possible for this development to work in the story?

Nami Could Be Getting a Powerful Devil Fruit

Oda Loves To Draw Nami Having Enel’s Powers

Nami is one of the first characters to make an appearance in One Piece and is the second person to join Luffy on his adventure. In other words, Nami has been a part of this adventure for almost 3 decades. Despite all that, she isn’t all that strong.

Strength isn’t Nami’s main attribute, but she’s a talented navigator and very smart, in general. That said, in a story where battle happens every arc, especially now that the story is in its final saga and enemies are only getting stronger, it’s only fair to want Nami to get stronger. Her most recent power-up was acquiring Zeus, Big Mom’s homie, but on his own, he isn’t enough for the threat they’re about to face. This is why many fans theorize that Nami will be getting a Devil Fruit ability.

Many people believe the best Devil Fruit for Nami would be the Goro Goro no Mi, a Devil Fruit currently in possession of Enel. This fruit definitely fits Nami as it is a lightning fruit that would give her immense powers.

The Goro Goro no Mi would propel Nami to a whole different level, and people especially believe this could be true because Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the series, loves to draw Nami with this devil fruit.

Will Nami Really Get the Goro Goro no mi?

It’s Unlikely But The Chance Are There

While fans would definitely love for Nami to acquire the Goro Goro no Mi, it’s unlikely to happen based on the current situation with Enel. For Nami to be able to acquire the fruit, Enel would have to die, and she would have to find his fruit. However, Enel is not even on the One Piece planet right now, as he left for the moon after the events in Skypiea. He will definitely return eventually, but there’s no real reason for Oda to kill him at the moment.

Elbaf will be where some of the Straw Hats unlock haki. Oda sets the perfect opportunity for that in One Piece.

If he does die, it would be pretty late in the story, and there would be little point for Nami to gain a sudden power up at that point. All that aside, it would definitely be nice to have a Straw Hat get a Logia ability as, so far, there’s only been Paramecia and Zoans.

People don’t fear God. Fear itself is God. — Enel

One thing is for sure, however, the Devil Fruit would definitely fit her. If she doesn’t get the powers of the Goro Goro no Mi, it doesn’t mean she won’t get any new abilities, as other options exist, and Oda could create a new power just for her, as he did with Zeus. Nami’s biggest issue right now is the lack of Haki rather than Devil Fruit. Hopefully, the Straw Hat Pirates all unlock some form of Haki before the end of Elbaf, as the final saga is about to be get quite rough.

Where To Read and Watch One Piece?

Available on Manga Plus and Crunchyroll

One Piece is a massive series. The manga started almost 3 decades ago, and the anime itself is over 25 years old. One Piece is definitely the best option for people wanting a long series, especially as it doesn’t seem like the story will end anytime soon, despite comments Oda has made in the past. The series has at least 7 years or more left.

With that being said, the One Piece manga is currently in the Elbaf arc. This arc has been anticipated for decades, ever since Little Garden. Finally, Oda is getting the chance to draw an adventure in the land of Giants. The One Piece Manga can be read on Manga Plus.

For the anime, it has recently returned after a very long break that lasted 6 months. Since then, it has been dropping weekly and is continuing the Egghead arc of the series. Egghead is definitely an intriguing arc, and the animation generally does not disappoint. The One Piece anime can be watched on Crunchyroll.
