One Piece: Oda Officially Reveals Luffy's Endgame Romantic Partner

Thanks to the Kuja Pirates, who were largely seen as idols of their era around 40 years ago, Oda established a ton of exciting relationships, such as that of Rayleigh and Shakky, and some unfruitful ones, such as Gloriosa and Roger, among others. While these are quite clear, Oda has slyly given the fans a nod at Luffy's endgame relationship. Based on what Oda has revealed so far, it appears that Luffy will eventually end up with none other than Hancock, the Pirate Empress of Amazon Lily.

Luffy and Boa Hancock have a one-sided romance that Oda has developed. Years ago, Oda was quite clear about the fact that he doesn't want romance in the Straw Hat Pirates. He said that while it is okay for others to like Luffy in a one-sided way, he can't have Luffy reciprocate their love, because One Piece isn't a romance manga and he doesn't want to portray that in his story. Clearly, Luffy and Hancock won't be together anytime soon in One Piece, but so far, there is only one canon romantic interest for Luffy, and that's her.

One Piece's Loki flashback has done wonders for those who think Luffy and Hancock will end up together. For one, Oda introduced Shakky, who seems to resemble Hancock a lot. Not only is she the most beautiful woman of the era, but at the same time, she also carries the same demeanor. More than that, everyone is attracted to Shakky, as is the case with Hancock. Yet, there is one character that shows no direct attraction towards these two. In Shakky's case, that is Silvers Rayleigh. Much to the surprise of the fans, the only person who showed her no care is the one she developed love sickness for.

Paralleling this is Hancock. Luffy showed no attraction towards her, and eventually, Hancock developed love sickness for him. Yet, fans know that at the end of the day, Shakky and Rayleigh end up together. If Oda follows the pattern, then it is clear that Luffy and Hancock will also end up together once his adventure ends, even though he doesn't want to get married right now and isn't interested in anyone.

Luffy Doesn't Need To End Up With Anyone

If He Does, Hancock Is The Only One That Makes Sense

Clearly, Oda has created Luffy in a way where he doesn't need to end up with anyone at all. Fans shouldn't expect Luffy and Hancock to be a certain endgame couple. It is certainly a big possibility and Oda himself seems to be hinting greatly towards it, but at the end of the day, it's all up to Luffy. What he wants to do after his adventure is over is up to him.

Both endings would be fitting for Luffy's character. One thing is clear, even if Luffy and Hancock are together, Luffy won't settle down in one place. He will always crave adventures and his love for the seas knows no bounds. Luffy will Alway adventure across the seas, and Oda will likely shape any potential romantic relationship between him and Hancock similar to the one between Rayleigh and Shakky.

One Piece Chapter 1159 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday.
