This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Final Saga.
One Piece chapter 1158 was absolutely stunning for the fans, for various reasons, and as the story edges closer to the God Valley Incident, which now appears to be only moments away from being explored in the story, Oda has shocked the fans with a new reveal that came out of absolutely nowhere. In the recent cover story of One Piece, Oda officially revealed a new reader of Poneglyphs, although not directly.
One Piece: Oda Has Already Revealed A Devil Fruit Awakening Stronger Than Luffy's Gear 5
Luffy's Gear 5 is a powerful Devil Fruit awakening, but not the strongest in One Piece. The strongest awakening belongs to a different Yonko.
This new Poneglyph reader is going to affect the plot of One Piece greatly in the Final Saga, especially as the Yonko prepare to fight for the One Piece. As some fans would've guessed already, the new Poneglyph reader that Oda revealed in One Piece chapter 1158 is Gecko Moria, or Kozuki Moria, if we go by his real name. This is now confirmed thanks to his connections to the Kozuki clan of Wano.
Oda Strongly Implies Moria Can Read Poneglyphs
Moria Is Confirmed To Be From The Kozuki Clan
- The Kozuki clan can read Poneglyphs
- Moria is related to Kozuki Oden
In the cover story of One Piece chapter 1158, Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece, officially confirmed that Moria, who was once one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, is actually a member of the Kozuki clan. This was confirmed when Yamato went to the grave of a fallen samurai in Ringo, and the name on it was revealed to be that of Kozuki Moria. As fans know, Moria is not dead. This is because he was likely assumed to be dead by the people of Wano. The truth is that he managed to live, and he stole Shusui and Ryuma’s corpse from Wano before he fled the country for good.

One Piece: Oda Has Already Revealed The Next Devil Fruit Blackbeard Will Steal
Blackbeard is planning to steal the strongest Devil Fruit in the One Piece world. This might make Blackbeard One Piece's final antagonist.
The most interesting part of this revelation is that Kozuki Moria is a Poneglyph reader, simply because he is from the Kozuki clan. It must be remembered that those of the Kozuki clan created the Poneglyphs in the Void Century. Only those of the Kozuki can write the Poneglyphs, and all its members possess the ability to do so. Kozuki Sukiyaki can read and write Poneglyphs. Oden was both a reader and writer, and Momonosuke and Hiyori are being taught by Sukiyaki as well. Since all Kozuki are Poneglyph readers, Moria is officially a Poneglyph reader now.

What Moria's Poneglyph Reading Ability Means For One Piece
Moria Will Join The Cross Guild
Moria being able to read the Poneglyphs is huge for One Piece’s Final Saga. Not only does this connect him to Oden, as a potential brother or a cousin, but more than that, it gives him a big role to play. Moria was recently saved at the Pirate Island by Perona and Koby. Now that he's free, he will seek protection and that will only come through one person, Buggy. Moria will join the Cross Guild soon, and that means Buggy will have a Poneglyph reader in his ranks. He aims to go for the One Piece, and Moria having this crucial ability to decipher Poneglyphs will be massive for him.
