Recently, with the release of the latest volume, One Piece Volume 111, Oda drew an interesting parallel between Zoro and Loki.

Oda Draws a Parallel Between Zoro and Loki in Volume 111

The Number 111 is Very Important

The Elbaf arc is ongoing in the One Piece manga, and it has proven to be incredibly exciting thus far, and for good reasons. The lore drops have been huge, and fans definitely haven't seen the end of them. This arc has also introduced some very interesting characters, notably, the Holy Knights, but also the Accursed Prince of Elbaf, Loki. Loki is a very important character, and quite a powerful one, even though fans have yet to see him go all out.

Recently, with the release of Volume 111, Oda has made quite an interesting parallel between Loki and Zoro.

Oda released a message with Volume 111, and here’s what he had to say:

“A symbol of a bird with its wings spread, almost like a crest—you see that a lot, right?

People say it's just a bird shouting, "I swear there was a fish this huge! For real!!"

But lately, I’ve been wondering… what if that bird was actually crucified to protect someone?

That reminds me—Zoro's first appearance was just like that.

Zoro… Zoro-me (repeating numbers “111”)?

What Oda did here is very interesting. The number 111 is the most important detail that links Zoro to Loki. In volume 111, Loki, Elbaf’s Prince, was in chains. However, he was eventually freed by Zoro.

Zoro was also someone who was chained and crucified before, all the way back in the first volume of the series, which brings back the same number 1.

It’s also interesting to note that Roronoa Zoro's birthday is November 11th, or in other words, his birthday is 11/11. This is definitely interesting, as fans see the same number pattern come up again. It seems like Oda is setting a parallel between Zoro and Loki.

With this in mind, Oda mentions that the bird might have been crucified to protect someone. As fans know, Zoro was tied up back in volume 1 for protecting someone, a small girl by the name of Rika. By that logic, it’s also possible that Loki was chained up to protect someone. Who that is unknown, and fans will have to wait and see what Oda has in store.
