While the theory is definitely interesting, there is more to it than meets the eye.

Gunko’s Character In One Piece Is Very Intriguing

A Holy Knight With An Odd Personality

The Elbaf arc started with a bang. Not too far into the beginning, a fearsome group of villains made their entrance on Elbaf — two members of the Holy Knights, Figarland Shamrock and Gunko. Their incredible power was immediately evident as they bullied around a chained Loki and easily destroyed a few Giants.

Shamrock immediately stood out as Shanks’s twin brother and the son of Figarland Garling. But, Shamrock wasn't the only threat in Elbaf. With him was Gunko, who is still operating in Elbaf. Along with her, two more Holy Knights entered Elbaf, Sommers and Killingham.

Among these Holy Knights, Gunko is definitely the most interesting one. First off, fans immediately noticed her name. Unlike other Holy Knights who were introduced by their saintly status, Gunko was just introduced as a normal person. Gunko’s design is also very peculiar. The others wear a musketeer-like outfit, while Gunko is dressed very differently. Gunko’s eyes are also something fans caught up on immediately, as she seems to have heterochromia, and even her personality seems to be split into two.

Among the Holy Knights seen on Elbaf, it’s also important to note that Gunko is the only one who has the power to control the Abyss, which is definitely an interesting detail.

Now, thanks to the latest chapter, fans know that Gunko is indeed very special. Imu has taken over her body and has made her the most powerful character seen in One Piece so far.

Gunko’s Father Could be a Straw Hat Pirate

Gunko and Brook Share a Connection

A lot has been happening in Elbaf, and it seems Oda has picked up the pace all in the span of a few chapters. While Sommers got destroyed by Gaban, Gunko took Gaban’s son, Colon, hostage. This caused Gaban to admit defeat. Gunko took advantage of that and pierced him, before throwing him down into the Underworld. This caused his son, Colon, to scream out for his father. The word father seems to have triggered something in Gunko’s head, as memories of her past came rushing back to her.

While Colin is screaming out for his father, she sees a memory of herself with Brook. Earlier in the story, fans quickly noticed that Gunko is a big fan of Brook’s music. Gunko also felt physical pain after hitting Brook.

All of this has led to a very popular theory among fans which asks if Brook is the father of Gunko. It’s easy to see where this theory is coming from, as these two seem to have a deep bond. Brook is currently a skeleton, but he had about 40 years of time before that in his human form to have children.

Is Brook Really Gunko’s Father?

It’s Unlikely As He Guarded Gunko

While many fans would love it if Brook is revealed to have a daughter, that is not very likely. Gunko refers to Brook by his first name, not as father. Gunko’s father is probably a nobleman, possibly a King, and Gunko herself might be a princess.

The more likely explanation of Gunko and Brook’s relationship is something more akin to a princess and her knight. Brook was probably a guard to her family back before he became a pirate, and through his music, grew closer with the young princess.

There is still a lot unknown about Gunko, such as how she became a Holy Knight. Gunko seems to be very special, as Imu specifically chose her for possession in the previous chapter. Brook might be able to shed more light on this in the upcoming chapter as he knew her years ago. Things are getting incredibly interesting in One Piece, and fans can only hope Od focuses on Gunko more.
