The Straw Hat Grand Fleet is a very important part of One Piece's post-timeskip sagas, and fans are desperately waiting to see more from them in the story. Having been introduced quite a while ago in the Dressrosa Arc of One Piece, fans have, since then, wanted them to play a major role which has yet to come. Oda has already highlighted a massive role for them in the future and this has likely got to do with an upcoming war that will shake the world of One Piece in more than one way.

The Straw Hat Grand Fleet is, as the name implies, a massive fleet that falls under the flag of Strawhat Luffy. To be clear, Luffy did not create this Grand Fleet, neither did he have any intention of creating it. The Straw Hat Grand Fleet are self-proclaimed followers of Luffy who have essentially created this fleet based on their own beliefs and followings. After everything that Luffy did in the Dressrosa Arc of One Piece, the Straw Hat Grand Fleet have come to see him for who he truly is and commit to him under his flag, which is why they are especially loyal to him.

In the Dressrosa arc, the threat of Doflamingo was rampant. In fact, the vast majority of the fighters who had taken part in the battles in the Colosseum would have lost their lives. Had it not been for Luffy, the entire country would have fallen, and Doflamingo would have been victorious. As always, it was Luffy who saved the country from utter destruction, and in doing so, he amassed a massive following. This is consistent with Oda's writing of Luffy.
Fans know that Luffy has many powerful abilities, but as Mihawk put it in the Marineford Arc of One Piece, his greatest power is to gather people around him and make them follow him. The same logic applies to the Straw Hat Grand Fleet as well, and because they were so moved by Luffy's strength and compassion, they decided to follow him until the very end. After sharing sake cups at the end of Dressrosa, the Straw Hats Grand Fleet was formed and they eventually went on to disperse. Since then, they have only been seen individually, and fans do not know when they will play a major role in One Piece again. But, Oda has already highlighted a major role for them, and as One Piece enters the final saga, fans now have more context as to what could be next for them. As things stand, the Straw Hat Grand Fleet have not been involved in any arc following Dressrosa. But, the time for them to join the fray is approaching. For those who do not remember, Oda teased their involvement at the end of Dressrosa. He said that even though the Straw Hat Grand Fleet would disperse, they would go on to grow stronger individually, and eventually lead to a catastrophic event on one day that would essentially announce them to the world properly. Clearly, the Straw Hat Grand Fleet members are now much stronger than before, but more importantly, fans also know that they are going to be taking part in a massive event in the future that will shake the world of One Piece for good. This needs to be broken down properly.

The first thing that fans need to keep in mind is that Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are currently on Elbaf. This essentially means that other than Hajrudin, no other member of the Grand Fleet is going to show up there. There is no need for them to show up either, and the fact is that Oda has already given them a piece to link them to Luffy. This piece is Luffy's very own Vivre Card. This means that until Luffy's life is in danger, the Grand Fleet is not going to be called into action. It is highly unlikely that Luffy's life will be in danger in Elbaf, which means that the Straw Hat Grand Fleet won't be called into action here.

Following Elbaf, Luffy will most likely get closer to the One Piece than ever before and potentially even go on to claim it. As such, the biggest threat that Luffy will face where his life could be in danger is when the battle against the World Government begins. When that happens, it is possible that his Vivre Card will lead the Grand Fleet to the battlefield as it would be their time to shine. This is likely the massive event that Oda was referring to and it is during this event that the Grand Fleet will showcase they are in the world of One Piece.
How Strong Will The Straw Hat Grand Fleet Be?

When the Great War begins, which is when the Straw Hat Grand Fleet will finally start going all out and showing their true worth, they will have improved massively This has already been confirmed by Oda to the narrator, who, at the end of Dressrosa, clearly said that the Straw Hat Grand Fleet will now continue to grow stronger until the catastrophic event that happens much later into the future. This means that while the focus was on the Straw Hat Pirates, the members of the Grand Fleet continued to hone their skills as well and that they are much stronger right now than ever before. In fact, Hajrudin, who fans lost saw fight in Dressrosa, will be much stronger in Elbaf, and fans should expect him to be on a completely different level right now.
By the time the Great War begins and the true role of the Straw Hat Grant Fleet is fulfilled, fans should expect an entirely different level of strength showcased by these powerful individuals, potentially making them the mightiest fleet in the entire world. Of course, there are still some ways to go before One Piece reaches the final war, and until then, the Straw Grand Fleet will improve their overall level of strength so they can be of use to Luffy, who they believe will go on to become the Pirate King.
