This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf Arc.
One Piece has been revealing legendary characters to the fans left right and center, especially in the ongoing Elbaf arc, where the flashback of Loki, and through him, the life of Rocks D. Xebec is being shown to the fans. All the legendary characters of the old era are being revealed here to the fans, and this includes figures from both eras of Rocks and Roger.
One Piece: Oda Officially Reveals The Strongest Yonko In The Series
The Yonkos are all strong, but this one is the most powerful in One Piece
At the same time, figures that gained prominence in the Great Pirate Era, such as the likes of Shanks and Mihawk, are also going to be focused on here. Oda will, undoubtedly, give the fans a glimpse of Dracule Mihawk here, and it is also highly likely that he will focus on Mihawk's secret bloodline in the Elbaf flashback. Fans would be surprised to know that Mihawk could actually have a blood connection to Saint Imu of the Nerona Family, and that he might be Imu's very own child.
Why Dracule Mihawk Could Be The Child Of Imu
Mihawk And Imu Share The Same Eyes
- Dracule Means Son Of Demon
- Dracule Can Also Mean Dragon
On the surface, Mihawk being the child of Saint Imu Nerona seems outlandish, but there is more to this idea than just surface-level connections. First things first, Mihawk is actually royalty. This is quite evident from his demeanor and the way he carries himself. His tastes, his way of speaking in Japanese, and his mannerisms are all like those of royalty.
I don't hunt rabbits with cannons. — Mihawk
Undoubtedly, Mihawk has royal blood, and the fact that he is definitely a conqueror also supports that idea. Mihawk is most definitely a Celestial Dragon, just like Shanks. It makes sense that Shanks and Mihawk had a rivalry, especially knowing that both of them likely met when Shanks went back to Marijoa after Roger's death.
For Mihawk, the most striking characteristic that he's shown in the story so far is his eyes. As fans know, his eyes have a ringed pattern to them, and they glow red. There is only one other individual in One Piece with ringed red eyes, and that is Saint Imu Nerona, which signifies a blood connection.
One Piece: Oda Officially Reveals The Inheritor Of Rocks And Roger's Power
Rocks and Roger have left a huge legacy behind. This character inherited their techniques from One Piece.
Rise to the top and strive to overcome me, Roronoa! — Mihawk
To make things more interesting, it must be remembered that Mihawk's surname is Dracule, which literally means Son of the Devil. As fans saw in Elbaf, Imu is literally the Devil itself. To add to that, Dracule can also be translated to Dragon in old Romanian, which is yet another nudge at the idea that Dracule Mihawk is a Celestial Dragon.
Mihawk's Sword Yoru Is Another Proof Of Nerona Bloodline Connection
Yoru Is The Opposite Of The Dawn
Undoubtedly, there are more than just a few hints that Oda dropped in the story that prove the connection between Mihawk and the Nerona Family. If all of what was already mentioned isn't enough, then fans also need to consider the fact that Mihawk wields the sword Yoru, which literally translates to night. As the story has made clear already, those of the D who opposed the Gods want to bring the dawn of the world. Meanwhile, the Celestial Dragons want the world to be covered in the darkness of the night.
Yoru is the representation of that sword. Mihawk likely got this sword from the Nerona Family in Marijoa, which is a clan that he belongs to as well. Mihawk might be Imu's very own son, or he could be the son of someone from the Nerona family. Either way, it is highly likely that Mihawk is from the Nerona Family of the Celestial Dragons.
