The One Piece manga is currently focused on the God Valley Incident. After making fans wait for years, Oda has finally begun to disclose every single detail about the most important event in recent One Piece history.
In Chapter 1162, Eiichiro Oda revealed the victor of the fight between Xebec and Garling. The two were among the main figures during the incident. Following Garling's victory, Imu took over Saturn's body and got ready to fight what would become the strongest trio in One Piece.

Towards the end of the chapter, Xebec, Whitebeard, and Kaido joined hands to stand against the threat of Imu. Whitebeard and Kaido were unsure about who they were fighting, but Xebec knew what stood in front of them was "the world" itself. The chapter ended there, so fans will have to wait for over a week to find out what happened in the fight.
However, there is no doubt that the trio of Xebec, Whitebeard, and Kaido won't be going down easy. Xebec had previously encountered Imu in Marijoa, so he knew the level of threat they'd be up against. He has already warned Whitebeard and Kaido, so they won't be holding back in the fight. It will be interesting to see how much damage the three were able to inflict on Imu and how the ruler of the world survived the fight.
There is a chance that Garp and Roger will join the fray as well. Roger was thrilled to see Imu, while Garp was astonished. According to Sengoku's statement, Garp and Roger teamed up to beat Xebec, but that might have been a hoax. At the moment, Oda has not revealed the reason why Roger and Garp wanted to collaborate to take down Xebec.
Imu Might Have Turned Xebec Into A Demon

The only way Roger and Garp would have teamed up against Xebec is if he had been turned into a demon by Imu. Considering Imu had to fight the monstrous trio of Xebec, Whitebeard, and Kaido, it's likely that Saturn's body wasn't sufficient to win. So, Imu decided to use their magic to turn Xebec into a demon and then commanded him to kill all the pirates and other innocent people on the island. In such a case, it would make sense for Roger to ally with Garp and beat Xebec to save multiple lives. As the God Valley Incident is nearing its conclusion, there is no doubt that Oda will soon divulge the answer to this question.
Once the flashback is over, the story will return to present-day Elbaf. Last time fans saw Elbaf, it was in utter chaos because of Imu and the Holy Knights. Imu took control of Gunko's body and began attacking the Giants. They used magic to turn Dorry and Brogy into demons and then used them to wreak havoc. As it stands, there is absolutely no way for Elbaf to survive Imu's onslaught. But it could change once Luffy, Loki, and the others reach the upper level.
However, they must learn how to use Haki to bypass the regeneration of the Holy Knights. Scopper Gaban knows how to do it, so he must impart his wisdom to the youngsters. If they learn how to hurt the Holy Knights, then Elbaf has a shot at survival.
Regardless of what happens in the arc, it is safe to say that the world will never be the same. If the Holy Knights and Imu are defeated, it will give the Revolutionary Army an opening. Dragon has always said that the Holy Knights are the main threat, so if Luffy weakens them, the Revolutionary Army has no reason to hold back.
