This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf Arc.
One Piece fans are eagerly waiting for the Elbaf arc to reach its climax, and it is quite clear that this story arc will only get better with time. Right now, Oda is exploring the Loki flashback of the arc, and it has been absolutely spectacular. That said, fans also know very well that the battles that are to come after the events of the flashback are going to be mindblowing.
One Piece Has Officially Been Dethroned By The Anime Of The Year
One Piece is the greatest manga, but its anime was beaten in 2025 by this anime series.
One Piece fans will finally see the Straw Hat Pirates set into motion once again and this time, the enemies are the Holy Knights and the ruler of the world, Saint Imu Nerona. Although most fans hadn't expected it, it seems that Luffy Vs Imu is almost upon the fans, and at the same time, it can be said that this spells danger for Luffy more than anything. It goes without saying that Luffy is strong and certainly one of the most dangerous on the seas, but to face the final boss so early puts him in a difficult position. It seems that Oda is setting up a very tragic end for Luffy in Elbaf, and fans will get to see it soon enough.
Luffy Could Lose Vs Imu In Elbaf
Imu Is One Piece's Final Villain
- It's too soon for Luffy to beat Imu
- Luffy could finally be captured in One Piece
At this point, all fans know very well that Luffy Vs Imu is the main battle of Elbaf. The Holy Knights are in Elbaf, but Imu is the main villain. The main fighters in the arc are going to be Luffy, Loki, Zoro, Sanji, and of course, Hajrudin. There are enough enemies for them to take on. Sommers, Killingham, Dorry, Brogy, and Gunko are the main villains, and it seems Oda will eventually set up 1v1 battles in this arc.
Allow Mu to show thee the dominance of a God! — Imu in Elbaf
One Piece: Oda Has Revealed A Secret Member Of The Davy Clan, And It's Not Blackbeard
Blackbeard and Xebec are members of the Davy clan, but they aren't the only ones.
As is usually the case, Oda will most likely have Luffy fight Imu, and if that does happen, then it is going to be a very difficult battle for him. Luffy is, undoubtedly, very powerful and it goes without saying that he should be strong enough to rival the likes of Imu, but beating them is impossible so early on in the Final Saga.
One thing is for sure, and that's Imu cannot be beaten right now. It's too soon for Imu to fall, which means that the only two outcomes here are an interruption, or a Luffy defeat. While it is possible that Imu can't channel all powers through Gunko, a more likely and exciting option would be for him to lose.
Don't say a word, Chopper! I already understand everything now. — Luffy after sensing the Haki of Saint Imu Nerona.
Luffy's Vivre Card Could Come Into Play
Luffy's Capture Could Trigger The Greatest War
One of the biggest reasons why Luffy could lose in Elbaf is because it would allow Oda to use a plot point that he set up himself in Dressrosa. Back in this arc, Oda had Luffy's Vivre Card made and all the members of the Grand Fleet took a piece of it, as did Bellamy and Sabo. They all keep it with themselves in hopes of reaching Luffy if ever needed. Oda also stated very clearly that the Grand Fleet would cause an incident of massive proportions in the future. The only way Luffy's Vivre Card will come into play is if his life is in danger and it starts burning. That can only happen if Luffy loses in Elbaf.
If this does happen, it would then launch One Piece's greatest rescue arc, similar to how Marineford worked before the timeskip. This time around, Luffy would be the one captured, and the Straw Hat Pirates would come to his rescue, along with the Grand Fleet and the Revolutionary Army.
One Piece Chapter 1161 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday.
