This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf arc.
One Piece fans had been waiting to see a proper glimpse of Imu's powers ever since the big reveal of the fact that Imu existed was made by the author, Eiichiro Oda. As the main villain of the series, it was quite obvious that Oda would flesh him out further in the Final Saga of the series, and now, with the story deep into the Elbaf arc, that's exactly what's happening.
One Piece: Luffy's Defeat In Elbaf Is Already Inevitable
Luffy will be defeated in Elbaf as Oda sets up an impossible battle in One Piece.
Shortly before the Loki flashback of the Elbaf arc began, fans got to see a glimpse of Imu's powers as they absolutely crushed the might of Elbaf single-handedly. However, Oda only added to that showing in the Loki flashback, where Imu's battle against Rocks D. Xebec, Gol D. Roger, Whitebeard, Big Mom, Garp, and Kaido was shown. Despite fighting such monsters, Imu was scratchless, and it is clear that they're undefeatable, for now. However, there is one pirate that can beat even Imu, and that's none other than Joy Boy.

Rocks D. Xebec Stood No Chance
- Imu turned Rocks into his slave
- Rocks was ordered to kill his family
One Piece fans were desperately waiting for a big battle between Imu and Rocks D. Xebec right from the moment when their first meeting was revealed. However, few had expected it to be as one-sided as it was. Despite the immense Haki of Rocks, Imu was completely unhurt during their fight.

All it took was one attack from Imu to defeat Rocks D. Xebec, and not only did Imu defeat him, but he actually went on to turn him into his personal slave. As seen in One Piece chapter 1163, Rocks D. Xebec was Domi Reversi’d by Imu, and now, it'll be up to Roger and Garp to stop him.
After 28 Years, Oda Finally Reveals The Strongest Character In All Of One Piece
The strongest character of One Piece has been revealed, and it's an uncontested win.
Clearly, Rocks was no match for Imu. However, Joy Boy most certainly is. For those who don't remember, Joy Boy is the former user of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, and someone who lived in the Void Century. He belonged to the Great Kingdom that flourished in the past. Joy Boy was also the first man to set sail to the seas and the very first to be called a pirate. Above all, Joy Boy was monstrously powerful, especially since he was the Nika of the Second World of One Piece. Joy Boy fought Imu and the other Kings during the Void Century and lost, but he put deep fear in them. When Joy Boy's Haki was unleashed in One Piece’s Egghead arc, Imu was seen trembling in fear.
Saturn, why did you let Joy Boy escape? It's unforgivable! — Imu to Saturn, Egghead arc
Luffy Is The New Joy Boy And He Will Beat Imu
Elbaf Is Too Soon For Imu To Fall
It must be remembered that Joy Boy is a title, not a name. The previous Joy Boy did not manage to beat Imu, but the current Joy Boy, that is, Monkey D. Luffy, will eventually go on to defeat him. Joy Boy, as an entity, is the only one who can defeat Imu, and all that will be made possible with the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika.
That said, Luffy won't be beating Imu anytime soon in the story. It just be remembered that Luffy vs Imu will happen in the Elbaf arc of One Piece, but it may not be resolved. It is way too early for Imu to fall, and the difference in power between the two right now is way too much. Luffy needs to grow even more before he goes on to reach Imu's level and defeat him.
One Piece's next chapter will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on October 26. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
