The One Piece anime has almost as many episodes as manga chapters, without even adapting about an arc’s worth of chapters, which is astonishing. In other words, the One Piece anime would actually have more episodes than manga chapters, and that's diabolical.

Oda faced a sudden health complication, and an update has been made concerning that.
The pacing for the anime is its biggest downfall, but more than that, the anime used outdated sound design as well. If that wasn't bad enough, the animation of the series is extremely inconsistent in terms of quality. While One Piece’s overall quality is better since Wano, it has long stretches of horribly animated episodes, especially from Fishman Island to Dressrosa. There are still gems in there, such as Episode 614, or 727, but overall, it is not something that can stand next to a modern anime, or something that can get the best shouts. This is why the Wit Studio One Piece Remake, called The One Piece, was announced in the first place, and it'll truly be an adaptation that One Piece deserves.

Wit Studio's The One Piece will be the most accurate adaptation of Oda's manga. It'll be paced far better, and fans should expect 1100+ chapters of content to be compressed into around 500-600 episodes at most. At the same time, fans should fully expect a modern sound design, and more than that, absolutely stunning animation that rivals and even beats Toei's very best. On top of all this, there won't be any filler or extended fight scenes that absolutely ruin the canon, and all in all, fans will finally get the perfect replacement for Toei Animation's One Piece in the form of another One Piece anime.
One Piece Chapter 1162 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday.
