This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf Arc.

Summary

  • Rocks D. Xebec likely had a Devil Fruit power, hinted by his vanishing act.
  • The Ope Ope no Mi may have been Rocks' Devil Fruit, allowing him to survive and teleport.
  • Rocks possibly had the Mera Mera no Mi, completing a parallel with Ace & Blackbeard.

One Piece’s Elbaf arc shocked the fans when it finally went on to reveal the legendary figure, Rocks D. Xebec to them for the very first time. One Piece chapter 1154 shocked all fans with its major reveal, and it goes without saying that Oda will only build upon the character of Rocks from here onwards.

One Piece's Rocks D. Xebec can only be defeated by one man - and it isn't Luffy.

As Rocks debuted in the chapter, fans saw Oda building his legend up almost immediately. It was made known that Rocks was one of the most wanted men in the world, and all this started due to him taking down and killing a Marine Admiral single-handedly, and then vanishing in thin air from the Reverie. Naturally, fans are wondering what abilities Rocks had, and a Devil Fruit comes to mind.

Rocks D. Xebec Might've Had A Devil Fruit

  • How Vanishing Suggests That He Had A Strong Devil Fruit

One Piece chapter 1154 didn't give the fans much information about Rocks D. Xebec’s power, other than how strong he was, but the small hints that Oda drops in his chapter are usually very important. Oda revealed in One Piece chapter 1154 that Rocks vanished almost in thin air after killing the Admiral. At the Reverie, this shouldn't be possible without a Devil Fruit, and suggests that he had one.

He killed a Navy Admiral single-handedly and vanished in thin air. This earned him a huge bounty. — Narrator, One Piece 1154

At the same time, most top tiers in One Piece actually have a Devil Fruit. The likes of Roger Pirates, Shanks, and Garp are an exception. Rocks having a Devil Fruit is more than likely to be the case.

Rocks Could've Had The Ope Ope no Mi

Rocks Could've Teleported Out With This Power

Rocks D. Xebec might've had the Ope Ope no Mi, and the idea behind this is simple. For one, fans know that a legendary doctor before Law held the fruit, and this person could well have been Rocks. More than that, the hand sign that Rocks was making in One Piece chapter 1154 is quite similar to what Law usually makes when using Shambles.

Rocks teleporting out of Marijoa could've easily been accomplished using the power of the Ope Ope no Mi. Most importantly, this Devil Fruit ability could've also allowed Rocks to survive the God Valley Incident, and defy all odds.

Rocks Could Also Have Had the Mera Mera no Mi Before Ace

This Would Complete A Solid Parallel Between Ace And Blackbeard

Another Devil Fruit that Xebec could've had is the Mera Mera no Mi. This is simply because this fruit fits his personality, but also because it would be ironic for it to then go to the son of his biggest rival, Roger. Meanwhile, his own son, Blackbeard, took the Devil Fruit of his right-hand man, Whitebeard.

For now, the Ope Ope no Mi seems like the best option, as it would explain how he aimed to become the King of the World, how he escaped Marijoa, and how he is likely alive even today. But, other Devil Fruits, like the Mera Mera no Mi, or even the Yami Yami no Mi, are options.
