Sanji joined the Straw Hat Pirates after they helped the cooks at Baratie to fend off Don Krieg and his goons. Sanji was recruited as a cook, but he has done a lot more than just whipping up incredible dishes. Sanji has been involved in almost every arc, and he has given the audience a reason to remain on the edge of their seats.

Saving Usopp From Enel
Sacrificed His Safety For A Crewmate
- Made sure that Usopp lived to see another day
The Skypiea arc was full of wonderful sequences, many of which remain relevant to the story. Aside from its historical importance, the arc also featured one of the most nefarious antagonists in One Piece—Enel. After destroying his entire homeland, he came to Skypiea and began ruling with an iron fist. Due to his Logia-type Devil Fruit, it was nearly impossible for the Straw Hats to hurt him.
During one of the sequences, Usopp was brutally beaten up by Enel. The latter used his Goro Goro no Mi to inflict thousands of volts of electric charge upon the sniper. Things weren't looking good for Usopp. In fact, everything pointed to Usopp's death. However, Sanji decided to put his own life on the line and kicked Usopp out of the range of another attack and straight onto Nami's scooter. With Usopp safe, Sanji then took the full brunt of Enel's attack. The strike was devastating and would have killed any ordinary human, but Sanji refused to go down. Instead, he thanked Enel for lighting his smoke.
Protecting The Vinsmoke Family
Showed His Kindness By Helping The People He Hated The Most
- Freed his family members from the clutches of the Big Mom Pirates
All the Vinsmokes, excluding Reiju and Sora, were rude towards Sanji and even beat him up. Sanji suffered a lot because of them, but he never let his kindness die. In the Whole Cake Island arc, Judge and his sons mocked Sanji for his demeanor, but little did they know that the outcast would rescue them from certain death.
7 Luckiest One Piece Characters, Ranked
Luck tends to play a big role in One Piece. These characters survived in no small part due to luck.
During the Tea Party, the Big Mom Pirates betrayed the Vinsmoke Family. This was followed by Perospero using his Devil Fruit to immobilize Judge and his kids, which left them completely defenseless. All the pirates had to do was kill them, and they would be able to take over the entire Germa technology. Unfortunately for them, Sanji and his allies arrived in the nick of time to save the Vinsmoke Family. Sanji used his kick to break the candy that prevented his father and siblings from moving. The moment showed that Sanji's kindness knows no bounds, and he would never let an oppressor win.
Freeing Momonosuke From Captivity
Protected Momonosuke From Certain Death
- Single-handedly saved Wano's future
Momonosuke was arguably the most important character in the Wano Country arc. As the son of Kozuki Oden, he was next in line to become the ruler of Wano. Kaido knew about Momonosuke's importance, which is why he decided to publicly execute him. The latter was beaten up and chained to a pillar. To prevent any intervention, King and Queen were tasked with guarding Momonosuke.
The presence of two of Kaido's strongest underlings deterred most people from rescuing Momonosuke. But Sanji was not ready to stand idly while the young boy was being executed. So, he used his Raid Suit's invisibility cloak to sneak past the Yonko Commanders and freed Momonosuke. Sanji then handed Momonosuke over to Shinobu, who took him to safety. Without Sanji's efforts, the alliance's hopes would have been crushed, and they would have lost their will to fight.
Asking Robin To Save Him
Finally Let Go Of His Past Trauma
- Showed how much he has changed
Like any character, Sanji's past made him the person that he is. Sanji never wanted to become a burden on his friends, which is why he kept doing things on his own. No matter the situation, Sanji kept things to himself, which is why when he asked Robin for help in Wano, everyone was shocked.
One Piece: 6 Characters Who Won't Be Involved In The Final Saga
These One Piece characters are unlikely to play a role in the Final Saga.
Some ridiculed him for being so weak, while others called him selfish. But the truth is that it was one of the best Sanji moments. It signified how Sanji had finally let go of his past when he used to beg for help and nobody came. Additionally, it showed Sanji's trust in Robin. Otherwise, he would never have called on Robin for help.
Beating Queen Effortlessly In Wano
Strongest Test Of Sanji's Strength
- Sanji persevered against a dangerous opponent
Sanji has won many battles, which have greatly benefited the Straw Hat Pirates. Without his strength, the crew would have never reached so far. One of his most impressive shows of strength was against Queen, one of the All-Stars.
Not only did Sanji win the fight handsomely, but he also made a major statement that he didn't require his father's science. What makes the fight even more poetic is that Queen was partners with Judge, and his entire body had been fitted with scientific weapons. Sanji's victory was a symbol of his determination and his desire to be free of his past.
