Summary

  • Arms Arms Fruit allows Baby 5 to transform her body into various weapons, leading to bizarre yet effective combat strategies.
  • Chop Chop Fruit makes Buggy immune to damage by separating his body, resulting in comical scenes and constant rearrangement.
  • Swim Swim Fruit enables Senor Pink to swim through surfaces, not water, providing unexpected maneuverability in battles.

Anyone who has read or watched One Piece will know very well that Oda can often get pretty wacky when it comes to the Devil Fruit abilities. While many can seem pretty straightforward and even a little basic in how they work, there are others that are so outlandish and silly that it's honestly hard not to let out a chuckle when seeing them used for the first time. That's not to suggest that these Dell Fruits are weak, just that they are so bizarre in how they work that it's honestly pretty baffling that they are even able to exist to begin with.

One Piece: 6 Non-Canon Devil Fruits That Got A Canonical Counterpart

These non-canon devil fruits for some reason got a canonical counterpart in the One Piece franchise.

14

If anything, having a Devil Fruit, which is a little on the silly side, can help to make them more interesting than they would be otherwise, considering it encourages fans to wonder how these abilities would work in real life. For now, we're focusing on the world of One Piece, and more specifically, the silliest Devil Fruits that have been seen in the series up to this point.

Arms Arms Fruit

Baby 5's Entire Body Is Essentially A Giant Arsenal Of Weapons

  • User: Baby-5

There are many Devil Fruits seen throughout the One Piece story which enable the user to transform a part of their body into a particular weapon, such as blades, for example, in the case of Daz Bones. Baby 5, however, takes this to a whole new level with her Arms Arms fruit, which allows the quirky member of the Doflamingo's family to transform her body into essentially any weapon she can think of.

This means that any time Baby 5 can be seen showing up in a battle, she will always take on a drastically different form, which can range from looking terrifying to downright ridiculous. One moment, her body will take the shape of a large pirate sword with eyes bulging out from the top, while the next, she'll have a leg that takes the shape of a gatling gun to rain down fire upon her enemies. Though One Piece as a series is far from being grounded or realistic, this is a particular fruit that feels even more bizarre and silly than many of the others seen in the story.

Chop Chop Fruit

Buggy Can Slip And Slide Apart To Avoid Incoming Damage

  • User: Buggy

Buggy may now be considered a Yonko in the current story, but as a character, he is often presented as little more than comic relief, which is why his Devil Fruit suits him like a glove. The Chop Chop fruit essentially makes it so that Buggy is completely immune to any incoming damage, since his limbs will begin to separate any time he is about to receive a nasty cut.

As the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, there's a lot that Luffy can do on his own, but wherever he stumbles, his right-hand man, Zoro, has his back.

As a result, the ability itself is often played off for laughs, considering Buggy is always being pummeled and sliced to pieces by pirates who are much more powerful than he is. There have also been many comical scenes showing Buggy trying to rearrange his limbs back together, only for him to look entirely different once his body is finally restored.

Swim Swim Fruit

Senor Pink Can Swim, But Not Through Water

  • User: Senor Pink

When hearing the name the Swim Swim fruit, most people would understandably assume that this allows the user to move through water at a blistering pace, even though Devil Fruit users are known to be incapable of swimming. That's not exactly how the ability itself actually works, as in stark contrast, it enables Senor Pink to outmaneuver opponents by swimming through surfaces, whether it be the ground beneath his feet or even the walls of a building.

Seeing the baby-dressed Senor Pink flailing his arms around to push himself through the floor is honestly a hilarious sight, though, as was shown in his duel with Franky, he has still found some creative ways to make good use of it. Oda definitely subverted expectations when it comes to this rather wacky Devil Fruit, being one that no long-time fan will ever be able to forget because of how ridiculous it is.

Door Door Fruit

Teleportation, But With A Pretty Strange Twist

  • User: Blueno

If Blueno was in possession of the Warp Warp fruit, which would allow him to teleport himself and his allies in the blink of an eye, this would be considered pretty simple and straightforward to most fans. However, he instead has a fruit which, whilst similar, is honestly pretty humorous in the way it works, that being the Door Door fruit.

Simply put, Blueno is able to use any part of his body to create a door from thin air, which will create a passageway leading to another door, so that he can get the jump on his opponent without them realizing he's even coming. It's an extremely strong technique, but seeing Blueno constantly opening and closing doors while vanishing into thin air is always going to be hilarious just because of how outlandish the ability is, and that's certainly saying something given the series in question.

Chomp Chomp Fruit

Wapol Can Eat Anything, But He Can Also Turn Into The Things He Consumes

  • User: Wapol

On the surface, Wapol's Devil Fruit ability might seem fairly easy to understand, but there are actually some finer details that make it much more complex and, in all honesty, a little strange. Thanks to the Chomp Chomp fruit, Wapol is able to use his giant mouth to consume literally anything, even items and materials that should technically be inedible. Not only that, he can then turn himself into whatever he has consumed for the next 24 hours, so needless to say, the potential ways that someone can utilize his ability are more or less endless.

From being ostracized to losing the ability to touch the sea forever, here are some of the worst things about eating a devil fruit

It doesn't stop there though, as Wapol can even combine the things he has eaten to create something brand new. Put all of this together, and it results in one of the most fascinating yet also ridiculous fruits in all of One Piece, the one that many people, including the always-hungry Luffy, would love to get their hands on.

Jacket Jacket Fruit

Turning Into A Piece Of Clothing Isn't An Ability Most Pirates Are Eager To Acquire

  • User: Kelly Funk

Fans may remember this strange Devil Fruit from the Dressrosa arc, where it was used by the dangerous coliseum combatant known as Kelly Funk. The Jacket Jacket fruit does exactly as it says on the tin, as it enables the user to literally turn into a jacket, which can then be worn by others if they feel like adding a little bit more style to their usual attire.

The fruit itself is often brought up in conversations and debates regarding the worst Devil Fruits in the series, but while it's clearly not all that useful, what really makes it stand out is just how silly it is as an ability. It's one thing for a character like Kin'emon to have a Devil Fruit that allows him to create clothes, but turning into a jacket is so specific and bizarre that it definitely earns the infamous fruit a spot on this list.

Wash Wash Fruit

Tsuru Is Able To Turn People Into Human Laundry

  • User: Tsuru

Tsuru is a Marine who has only been given a very brief amount of screen time throughout the One Piece story so far, which is a shame considering she possesses one of the most bizarre, but oddly useful Devil Fruits in the series. If a group of Marines comes back from a dangerous mission all hot and sweaty, Tsuru can utilize the power of her fruit to turn them into human laundry. Not only can she clean them in just a few seconds, but she can also hang them up on a drying line before they are ready to embark on another adventure.

It's clear that Oda wanted to get extra experimental when coming up with this Devil Fruit ability, even though he only intended to show it in very small glimpses every now and again. The Marines have all become very accustomed to Tsuru and her silly Devil Fruit, but from the outside looking in, it can seem pretty ridiculous for those who have never experienced it first-hand before.
