Summary

  • Certain Devil Fruits in One Piece allow users to manipulate their environment creatively.
  • Each fruit grants unique abilities such as controlling stone, islands, gravity, and souls.
  • The Gura Gura no Mi's destructive power can create natural disasters, showcasing environmental dominance.

In all their rarity, Devil Fruits are one of the most common things to find in One Piece. It is not too difficult to find a Devil Fruit user, except those that allow them to control their environment. And no, this is not just about mindlessly destroying their environment to suit their taste, but utilizing it creatively, making the battlefield their weapon.

They turn waves into tsunamis, buildings and islands into battle suits, gravity against their opponents' favor, and so on. No matter the method, their power shapes the world around them in ways only a few can counter, aside from the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses in the One Piece world.

8 Ishi Ishi No Mi (Stone-Stone Fruit)

Becoming The Battlefield

  • Current User: Pica
  • Usage Debut: Chapter 736

As long as the user of this Devil Fruit is surrounded by buildings or objects made of stone, they are nearly invincible. It allows the user to merge with any stone and control it freely, like an extension of their body. They can reshape entire landscapes and buildings, lay traps in said buildings, and even move their consciousness around to avoid getting caught.

Not to be confused, they can not turn into stone themselves, so they require a stony environment to utilize it efficiently. It also does not boost their physical stats, as their strength now becomes the strength of the stone they inhabit, making them susceptible to attacks strong enough to cut it.

7 Shima Shima No Mi (Isle-Isle Fruit)

The Living Island

  • Current User: Avalo Pizarro
  • Usage Debut: Chapter 1080

This Devil Fruit allows the user to take over and manipulate their environment as long as it is an island. It does not care about the materials used to create the environment, making it look like an upgrade of the Ishi Ishi no Mi, although the user feels pain when damage is done to the island.

The fun part is that the larger the island, the stronger the user gets. Even cannonballs feel like a fly’s touch if the island is large enough. This, combined with the ability to detect all movement on the island, makes the user a terrifying force if they use it right.

6 Mochi Mochi No Mi (Mochi-Mochi Fruit)

Sticky Control Over Everything

  • Current User: Charlotte Katakuri
  • Usage Debut: Chapter 863

Do not be deceived by the mochi in this Devil Fruit; the abilities in its arsenal are dangerous. This fruit allows the user to create and control sticky, stretchy, thick mochi that can even deflect attacks when hardened. Kind of basic, right?

However, in their awakened form, they can either turn their environment into mochi or change its fluidity to mochi-like while maintaining its appearance. It changes the terrain in their favor with endless possibilities, from trapping their opponent in a massive mochi tower and suffocating them to using the mochi to launch attacks from multiple angles. Quite a shame the awakened form of this fruit was not shown well and long enough.

5 Zushi Zushi No Mi (Gravity-Gravity Fruit)

Commander Of Gravity

  • Current User: Issho (Admiral Fujitora)
  • Usage Debut: Chapter 701

Remember the saying “anything that goes up must surely come down”? Well, the Zushi Zushi no Mi takes it up a notch. This fruit allows the user to freely manipulate the gravity in their environment, from lifting or anchoring people and debris to throwing entire ships around with little to no effort.

One Piece: Oda Reveals The Shocking Past Of Admiral Fujitora And Greenbull In SBS Volume 110

Volume 110 of One Piece reveals the past of two members of the admirals: Fujitora and Greenbull. Here's what Oda had to say about them.

It does not just work vertically but also horizontally, enabling the user to move materials from left to right and vice versa, somewhat resembling telekinesis. Their abilities even extend to dragging matter from space down. Whoever goes against its user is going against a fundamental force of nature, and overcoming the laws of physics is a tough task.

4 Ope Ope No Mi (Op-Op Fruit)

Reality Redefined

  • Current User: Trafalgar D. Water Law
  • Usage Debut: Chapter 504

By creating a spherical domain called ROOM with them in it, the Ope Ope no Mi‘s user gains complete control of everything in that domain. From interchanging the position of any body or material to cleanly slicing buildings and removing organs without any injury, everything is at their mercy.

Leaving the environment will not cut it, as its awakened form allows the ROOM to follow the user's target while not requiring their presence to maintain it. The changes made in this domain remain even after the domain is removed, making escape after damage even more futile. It is called the ultimate Devil Fruit for a reason.

3 Soru Soru No Mi (Soul-Soul Fruit)

Soul-Powered Terrain

  • Current User: Charlotte Linlin
  • Usage Debut: Chapter 651 (Charlotte Linlin)

Anything the user of this Devil Fruit wants alive, they can make alive. This Devil Fruit allows the user to imbue a part of their soul, or that of their victims, into anything they desire, giving it life. Thunderclouds, toys, biscuits, weapons, air—as long as it exists, it can be done.

Referred to as homies by Linlin, the current user, these things gain consciousness, the five senses, and even emotions, just like regular humans. However, the user retains absolute control of these creatures and commands them to do their bidding, leaving their opponents with nothing to trust except what they own, and even that can be taken over.

2 Hito Hito No Mi, Model: Nika

The Power Of The Toon Force

  • Current User: Monkey D. Luffy
  • Usage Debut: Chapter 1

Those familiar with cartoons know that cartoons have their own kind of physics, where characters can plop to the ground from massive heights with no damage and can alter their environment in ways unexplainable. This Devil Fruit brings that concept to the world of One Piece when it is awakened.

Anything the user gets hold of immediately takes on the properties of rubber, even the most absurd ones. They can make lightning bolts stretchy. They can bounce back from punches that should obliterate them. They can even bend and stretch their environment, with seemingly no limit, to their advantage. Logic is thrown out the window at the sight of this masterpiece.

1 Gura Gura no Mi (Tremor-Tremor Fruit)

Earth-Shattering Might

  • Current User: Marshall D. Teach
  • Usage Debut: Chapter 552 (Edward Newgate)

The Gura Gura no Mi is the embodiment of raw and unadulterated destruction. The user of this Devil Fruit can generate shock waves and vibrations by taking hold of any medium, even intangible ones like air. Unlike the others, which simply manipulate their environment, this one cracks it like glass.

These cracks in the environment cause natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis to occur unnaturally, capsizing their foes, leveling islands, and sending ripples enough to change the tide without breaking a sweat. Its strength is so massive that Whitebeard, its former user, was tagged as capable of destroying the world because of it. It is the perfect symbol of environmental dominance.
