Much of One Piece's Elbaf arc dealt with the legends of the past, particularly during the age of Roger, Rocks, and the God Valley Incident. After some time, Chapter 1170 brought the story back to the modern day, showing the current state of Elbaf now that it is overrun by the forces of Imu and the Gods' Knights.

Chapter 1171 finally showed Luffy and Loki jump into the fray, while 1172 focuses more on their allies and their plans to take the villains on. The most notable event of this entire chapter came when Elder Jarul finally declared that Elbaf is going to side against the World Government, which most believe sparks the official beginning of One Piece's Final War.

One Piece: The Strongest Weapons In The Final War, Ranked

The Final War of One Piece promises to have the most powerful weapons of all time, so let's see what they are.

Jarul Declares War On The World Government, Officially Starting The Great Conflict

Elbaf Sides Against Imu

  • The Final War officially begins.

The Elbaf of today can largely be seen as the legacy of King Harald. As one of the most powerful beings in history, Harald knew that strength itself wasn't enough for his country to prosper, so he dedicated his life to changing the image of Elbaf so that relations would be good with the rest of the world.

This worked wonders for Elbaf as Harald's policies helped them out in dire times, due to which the general image of the country changed as well. Eventually, this caught the attention of the World Government, who brought them into the fold under the promise of helping them out, though they had ulterior motives as usual.

In the modern day, Imu's ultimate plan was revealed, which was to subjugate the Giants of Elbaf as powerful thralls to be used against their enemies in the Final War, prompting them to come onto the island themselves and forcefully turning many of the Giants into evil versions of themselves in order to further this goal. However, they soon found out that these legendary warriors aren't so easily defeated.

In one of the most rousing speeches in the history of One Piece, Elder Jarul breaks out a speaker system blaring a message across the entire country. In it, he reinforces the resolve of his compatriots, reminding them that they come from a powerful and ancient lineage of warriors who simply won't back down from such a threat to their land.

If the world is destined to be split in two as the Harley's Prophecy suggests, then Elbaf shall be an enemy to the World Government!

Most importantly, however, Jarul brings the fight to Imu and the Gods' Knights, asking them who they are to think that they have the right to take over this land. Jarul reassures them that this is not their country, and their actions on it have confirmed a single thing: that the Giants are fed up with their bullying and will take the war to the World Government itself.

This is one of the most important moments in the history of One Piece since it finally confirms the start of the legendary Final War, as the most powerful nation in the world has come right out to state that they will not willingly cede ground to such an evil organization and they refuse to be their pawns in the Final War.

Where Will Things Go From This Point In The Story?

The Start of the Final War

  • Everything is coming to a significant stage.

The entire One Piece fandom has been ablaze ever since Jarul made his speech in Chapter 1172. The Final War had been teased for years at this point as the greatest and most significant battle in the history of the world, and with Elbaf now being in open rebellion against the World Government, this catastrophic war has officially started.

Once the world gets news that Luffy and the Straw Hats have something to do with Elbaf rebelling, the most likely scenario is that all of their previous allies will follow suit and do the same. This would finally take the fight to the corrupt Celestial Dragons and would overthrow the centuries-old status quo.

The Final War had been promised since the time of Joyboy himself in the Void Century as an event that will shake the very foundations of the world and was even spoken about in the Harley Texts, which some believe are even older. The way it will go down from here in the story is entirely unknown at this point, but the most probable explanation is that, after the events of Elbaf, the World Government will begin to mobilize their forces against the world itself.

This would create a noticeable domino effect which would eventually bring all the most powerful figures into the fray as well. Monkey D. Dragon and his Revolutionary Army are implied to already have the Holy Land up in flames, so Imu is getting even more desperate to get allies for the Final War.

The Holy Land is currently in a sea of flames... Thou seems to require additional military force!

Moreover, Shanks and his crew are also the kinds of people to help out against a threat like this, so once the actual fighting begins against the World Government, it's strongly suggested that all of Luffy's most powerful allies will flock to him or will be dealing with threats on other fronts.

All of this just confirms that One Piece is at its most critical story point that Oda has been building towards since the start of the series. No matter what happens, it's safe to assume that this is the final stage of the story that fans have been following for decades, and its ending is closer than ever before.
